Republicans and Democrats in Washington Conspire to Exempt Themselves from Obamacare
Red State ^ | 4/25/2013 | Erick Erickson

If this happens, the nation needs to collectively march on Washington, DC, burn it to the ground, and spread salt over the ground.

According to the Politico, in super secret “high-level, confidential talks”, Harry Reid, John Boehner, the Obama administration, and other lawmakers are working to exempt themselves and their staffs from Obamacare.

They want to rush it through, probably sneaking it through on some other legislation that no one cares about, and get it all done before anyone can say anything about it.

If the Republican Party leadership in Congress goes along with this ride, there will need to be a new third party that challenges both the GOP and Democrats.

Congressional leaders in both parties are engaged in high-level, confidential talks about exempting lawmakers and Capitol Hill aides from the insurance exchanges they are mandated to join as part of President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul, sources in both parties said.

The talks — which involve Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), the Obama administration and other top lawmakers — are extraordinarily sensitive, with both sides acutely aware of the potential for political fallout from giving carve-outs from the hugely controversial law to 535 lawmakers and thousands of their aides. Discussions have stretched out for months, sources said.

Credit where due, Senator Richard Burr (R-NC) was willing to go on record saying, “I think if this is going to be a disaster — which I think it’s going to be — we ought to enjoy it together with our constituents.” Amen to that.

If Congress does this, there must be repercussions from the public. You know I don’t think highly of congress critters, but I just can’t imagine the GOP being stupid enough to do this. Yes, I recognize they’re the stupid party, but still.

“The problem stems from whether members and aides set to enter the exchanges would have their health insurance premiums subsidized by their employer — in this case, the federal government. If not, aides and lawmakers in both parties fear that staffers — especially low-paid junior aides — could be hit with thousands of dollars in new health care costs, prompting them to seek jobs elsewhere. Older, more senior staffers could also retire or jump to the private sector rather than face a big financial penalty.”

They can’t be worried about losing staffers to the private sector because the private sector isn’t hiring!!!! The real truth is that extra costs are going to hurt them just like everyone else.

George Orwell said it right: “All animals are equal but some are more equal that others.”

Who would have ever believed that a book written in 1946 would become the history of today?

We need to start forming star chambers.

Too many people in power consider themselves “outside the law”
and get away with it that there needs to be fear struck into their hearts, so they will follow the law.

Just look at this administration, they have gotten away with so much treasonous and illegal activity. That it is mind boggling, and no one is holding them accountable for their actions. As soon as fast and the furious happened, and has been covered up. Not one person has been sent to jail, impeached, or resigned over it. Guess what happened? Benghazi happened next. You have Hillary Clinton, basically telling Congress that it makes no difference that we didn’t send help (which was readily available) and 4 Americans died, and the survivors(37?) STILL HAVE NOT BEEN HEARD FROM(NOT ONE WORD FROM A BENGHAZI SURVIVOR) which I personally find very very odd and unnerving.

Then Boston, so far we know there was a Saudi terrorist that was deported, and there are 1(maybe 2) Saudi’s in custody.

What next?

America needs to defend itself, and the government is NOT DOING IT’S JOB. It’s way way way past time for citizens like yourselves and I to take up the task of restoring justice, and order to the country we love.

That’s really all there is to it. These people must be stopped, at all costs. It may be too late. Who knows.

But, but, but....the "Affordable Health Care Act" was supposed to lower costs for everyone!!!!

Oh the agony for these poor politicians and staff members!

"I hope they try it...."

They will definitely try it. Look at the laws passed by congress that they are exempt from.
I agree with others this is the final straw.
Time to take OUR country back.

If this doesn't inflame those of us considered the Silent Majority nothing will. . . . . .

The commissars don’t want to be bound by the restrictions they place on the proles.

Wow, there’s a shocker.

It’d make one want to tear up the constitution if that hadn’t been done already.

"collectively march on Washington, DC, burn it to the ground, and spread salt over the ground.”

An idea that incresingly has merit. Certainly there are enough lamp posts for all of the members of Congress to dangle from.

I really despise this evil govt.

May I venture, it is not the govt, that is evil!

Our wise founders established a perfect, Ok, a near perfect blue print for generations to follow, and they established it knowing and planning for the frailties and weakness of human nature.

It follows that within govt, and without, lies the true evil in human form.

General comment follows:

Well WTF did people expect?

The “Principles do not matter” and “Purists are the death of the party” crowd shouted down people committed to traditional conservatism and this is what happens.

Since principles do not matter, as many here were screamed at for months, you now have a party with all the checks off. They are free to agree show everyone the result of abandoning principle. How does it taste? How does the “principles don’t matter” crowd like living the result of that belief? How does the “purists are destroying the party” crowd justify the hypocrisy of bitching about a party that has become anything but purist?

And before anyone falls on the old say about all that being in the past and we have to come together now and other crap....no. You do not get a free pass. Because it is your collective fault we are in this mess to begin with and you can choke on it. The time to come together was before the barn door got kicked wide open. Well the horse is out. The whole herd is out. And you opened that door when you accepted and campaigned for ‘moderation’ in exchange for a ‘win’ you never got. But you got that moderation in spades. You got so much moderation the GOP is now indistinguishable from a hard left Democrat.

So before any talk about ‘coming together’ gets started, perhaps those of you now suddenly having a come to Jesus moment on the GOP should decide where your head and heart is really at. Because the rest of us are pretty fed up with the whole Charlie Brown/Lucy football schtick and don’t trust you any farther than we can throw you. And while you’re at it, repeat after me...

“Principles matter.”

If you can’t do that, even to yourselves, just finish what you started and register as a Democrat and make it official.

Well Norm I hope you feel better - but methinks you read only the headline, fell for it, and didn’t actually read the entire article. I don’t trust Boehner, and I’m no big fan of Richard Burr of NC, but what we find out in the article is a far different story than what we see in the header. This is still mostly a Democrat maneuver. In fact, what Burr said, who can be a squish sometimes, was very good.

You want to trust these idiots? It’s your reputation. Be my guest.
