Carney: Not Yet Convinced Syria Used Chemical Weapons

You know, with President Obama, you often get this tough guy talk that, like a wannabe schoolyard bad dude, sounds a litte hollow.

Whether he says he’s trying to figure out “whose ass to kick” or vows to Iran, “I don’t bluff,” one gets the sense that, well, he does bluff. And bluffs sometimes work, and sometimes, bluffs get called.

Obama looks dangerously close to having to live up to his vow that use of chemical weapons by Syria would be a “red line” and a “game changer.” What exactly does all that mean? Who knows. But if it doesn’t mean something very serious and deadly, Obama will be an obvious peddler of empty threats, and Iran and North Korea and China and Russia and al Qaeda and everyone else will take note.

President Obama has backed himself into a corner with his intemperate rhetoric. His options now appear to be either (1) involve America in another war in the Middle East--a war in which the "Good Guys" contain some al-Qaeda elements--or (2) back off, and make America look irresolute and impotent.

Frankly, I find neither choice very appealing...

Nothing would please Al Queda more than for the US to come running in, guns blazing, and put an end to their war on Assad by toppling him right over and paving the way for them to roll in and start destroying yet another country, where they can go around and behead women for daring to get raped, murder Christians and get right back to their typical feudal games.

So, gosh, when ‘Syrian rebels’ - IE, the same gang of thugs who have killed Americans in Afghanistan and Iraq - make claims of chemical weapons being used, my first reaction is: Someone check the whisleblower's kitchen cabinet and make sure they didn't cook this one up themselves, or that it doesn't carry an Iranian brand on the casing.

WHO THE HELL CARES IF THEY ARE KILLING EACH OTHER WITH BULLETS, BOMBS OR POISON GAS AS LONG AS THEY ARE KILLING EACH OTHER. I just wish they would figure out how to speed up their self extermination.
