TORONTO — The Toronto imam who first brought forward concerns about one of the suspects in the alleged al-Qaeda-linked train plot wants to remain anonymous, his lawyer said Tuesday.

Naseer Syed said the imam came to him more than a year ago about the suspect’s conduct.

“It was enough of a concern and it passed a certain threshold than the imam felt comfortable with,” he said.

The lawyer said he then notified the appropriate authorities. On Monday, the RCMP credited the imam’s tip with helping bring terrorism-related charges against Raed Jaser and Chiheb Esseghaier.

If he wants to be anonymous I'd say they already revealed too much.

I'd say they've indirectly outed him.

The Toronto imam

Hmmm...
Mosque in Toronto
Can't be many of them
Suspect attended about one year ago
Narrows it down a lot

I suspect that Imam needs to disappear
If he wants to stay alive

Actually, US counter-terrorism agencies should do this a lot. That is, attribute terrorism busts to “information received” by anonymous Muslims who peach on the radicals.

Eventually start imagining the giving of rewards to them as well. “A concerned Imam who wishes to remain anonymous gave information leading to the apprehension of several individuals involved in a plot. For this he has been given a $10,000 reward.”

If true, then good. There should be more.

However, remember, taquiya.

An Imam ratted out a radical, huh?

My hunch tells me this is how they are hoping to keep the mosques from being attacked.

Not a bad hunch...this imam has a lawyer and the lawyer says he came to him a year ago about the suspect’s conduct? A year ago...he needed a lawyer about a man’s “conduct”? It does sound fishy, re-reading it.
