George W. Bush's Approval Rating Hits A Surprising 7-Year High As His Library Opens In Texas

Former President George W. Bush's approval rating is up to 47%, a seven-year high for the former president, according to a Washington Post-ABC News poll.

The mark stands as Bush's highest approval rating since December 2005, one year through his second term in office.

By October 2008, Bush's approval rating had sunk to an abysmal 23% before inching up to 33% as he left the White House.

One possible cause for the bump — besides the former Commander in Chief's time out of the spotlight — could be the upcoming dedication of his presidential library. On Thursday, the $250 million Bush presidential library will be dedicated Thursday at Southern Methodist University in Dallas.

All living presidents, including President Barack Obama, will attend.

Surprising? Is that like "unexpected"?

Given that Der Leader is having a hard time breaking 50 percent, this is interesting information.

No, America doesn’t or it would have given an indication of that in past November.

No more Bushes — they had their chance twice and blew it.

I bet the Saudis miss their old pal W. It was like having an honorary member of the House of Saud in the Oval Office.

It was interesting to note what C. Edmund Wright wrote in his article entitled Did Bill Maher Just Trump Bush on Islam? in American Thinker. Note the following snippet:

It shows that even an ultra-liberal like Maher is more willing to speak the obvious truth about terror than the man who started "the war on terror" in the first place. "Islam is peace" droned Bush gratuitously, just days after 9-11. "When we think of Islam we think of a faith that brings comfort to a billion people around the world. Billions of people find comfort and solace and peace" he added, apparently having no clue what most of us really think of Islam, but more importantly what Islam thinks of us. You could say, to use a bumper sticker metaphor, Maher just stuck "Don't Mess with Texas" on his car, while Bush went with that absurd COEXIST decal.

Nice guy or simply stuck on stupid, Bush was not a good president.

Gee, just in time for Jeb to run.

Hmmmm....I wonder if GWB's popularity will be rehabilitated enough for him to speak at the RNC when Jebby accepts the nomination in 2016...

I don't feel like joining in on the bashing of GW today. Yes, I miss him on some issues/some, I don't. Yes, I hope Jeb is not in the run next time. New direction with a conservative is the way to win back the senate and the presidency. This current Speaker is the problem right now. Let's go after him.

“Nice guy or simply stuck on stupid, Bush was not a good president.”

Hmmm, lemme think about the article’s straw man argument for a minute.

Ok, ready.

Someone who successfully waged 2 concurrent wars against islamic militants and their supporting sponsor states, killing many thousands of jihadists and their leadership is supposedly “not a good president” because of a statement made after 9/11 and the comment by a left wing ‘comedian’ about what his bumper sticker should be?

You think GWB’s bumper sticker should be Coexist rather than Don’t Mess With Texas, seriously? That’s delusional!

Reality check:

After saying “islam is a religion of peace” he kicked off two wars, and we’ve been killing international jihadis ever since. Oh, but folks like you carry on “he said blah, blah and I saw it on my TeeVee!!!” and that’s what really matters?

WTF, over?

Get a clue: Maher is playing the public’s shift in sentiment after the bombing and, as always, is doing it at the expense of his political opponents. And you lapped all it up.

And the author of the article did as well.

It's insulting to many to make a case that GW Bush was not patriotic. Of the war, he was fought each day from the radical left. I am thankful our troops captured Saddam Hussein. Tommy Franks is a hero in my book. Our soldiers are always caught up in this mess of politics though they still join to fight for freedom.

You Bush-bots seem to have trouble dealing with reality he really messed up the middle east, got a lot of American killed for questionable results, spent like an idiot and greased the skids for the Obama slide into socialism/communism. As for waging two concurrent wars, I’d say he handled them rather badly judging on the results (e.g., remember when he let Iran’s sock puppet go). When ever I hear a Bush-bot like you say “get a clue”, I say “physician, heal thyself.” What part of Bush is a liberal socialist do you have trouble understanding, or is that your ideal in a president?
