The controversial moment SWAT teams ordered innocent neighbors out of their houses at GUNPOINT ...

A startling home-made video now shows the terrifying moments where Watertown residents were forced out of their homes at gunpoint as SWAT teams performed door-to-door searches as they hunted the second marathon bomber.

While millions of Bostonians waited in their houses on Friday during the city-wide lockdown, the people of Watertown were faced with SWAT officers yelling at them to get out of the buildings immediately.

At the time, the Boston police department and federal agents were barely criticized, but now many are concerned about the dangerous precedent that could lead to more police searches using the rationale of ‘exigent circumstances’ as an excuse.

The video, shot by an unidentified Watertown resident, shows a team of SWAT officers wielding semi-automatic guns bang on his neighbor’s front door and scream for them to get out of the house’.

The residents are whisked away- hands in the air, one by one- to a nearby group of officers as the SWAT team searches the house for the second shooter, 19-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

Early reports, made by journalists who were kept out of Watertown by a police barricade, said that the searches were voluntary.

Now, the video published on right-wing conservative news blog InfoWars, asserts that the searches were involuntary, as all residents were forced out of their homes whether they liked it or not.

The six-minute video shows just one search of the suburban town’s homes during the day-long lockdown. While the outside world looked to the media gathered on the perimeter of Watertown, those trapped inside the search area looked outside to scary sights.

Based on earlier thread, many Freepers are okay with this.

We give up our rights so easily... just to whit... on the day of the bombing, cell phones were shut down. While I understand the safety slant, but doesn’t that bother anyone but me? I’m not a conspiracy theorist, but I’m sure “someone” is taking close note as to how well this shutdown and search worked. And no worries about facing resistance... gun control and all that.

A Brit tabloid, quoting InfoWars. Yay.

At the time, the Boston police department and federal agents were barely criticized, but now many are concerned about the dangerous precedent that could lead to more police searches using the rationale of ‘exigent circumstances’ as an excuse.

Yeah. But so far, the concern is from keyboard commandos who live hundreds or thousands of miles from where a terrorist was on the loose who had killed and maimed almost two hundred American citizens, including children.

Near as I can tell, the people of Watertown are still cheering the police.

It is a pathetic statement on the utter collusion this US media has with the Federal Government in keeping the truth from its citizens. It is further embarrassing that one has to go to a foreign newspaper to get the truth.

Anybody who thought the evacuations were voluntary is naive. I don’t know that the police ever said (not to the people being forced out, but to the press or public) the evacuations were voluntary, but if they did, that doesn’t speak well for their honesty.

You sure like to throw that "keyboard commando" insult around. I spent 20 years as a police officer, suffering my share of attacks and injuries and receiving a fair share of commendations. I'm not trying to boast, but to show how your "keyboard commando" insult is ridiculous. It's an ad hominem attack designed to deflect from your inability to make your case succinctly. I think I have every right to question the police, I've been in their shoes.

You never answered my question from the other thread (for obvious reasons), you just misdirected to another topic:

Given that on an almost nightly basis, violent felons (murderers, armed carjackers, AWIK [Assault with Intent to Kill], etc.) run from the police in DC and get away into a neighborhood, do you support the DC police doing each night what Boston did in this particular event?

Near as I can tell, the people of Watertown are still cheering the police.

The people in Watertown cheering the police didn't have this happen to them and haven't seen this video. They will now and many won't be cheering.

The authorities tell people to lock their doors and shelter in place and then they violate their own orders.

They manhandled this family worse than they did the thug himself.

And while they are doing this the thug is sheltering in place 5 blocks down the street in a boat that they should have been searching with their 9000 Boston Strong instead of terrorizing this family.
