Gun, Ammo Sales Surge After Boston Marathon Bombing

The surge in gun and ammo purchases that began after Sandy Hook and continued through the Senate's failed gun control vote appears to have picked up steam again following the Boston Marathon bombing.

For example, at the Syracuse Gun Show on the New York State Fairgrounds last weekend, so many people showed up that some had to wait in line more than two hours just to get into the gun show. Those that waited did so on a windy day, amid sleet and snow flurries.

Moreover, for this specific gun show, few people came to sell guns; most came to buy them and find the ammo they needed for their guns at home.

I find that implausible. How could they surge from current levels, particularly given current supplies?

I have seen an increased amount of gun shoppers above the already high amount of the last 5 years, ammo of the most popular calibers is still short.

So I just walked right up and bought some very good 7mm magnum rounds, next will be some .300WM, .338wm and .375H&H.

My first thought too - how could it get any worse?

Not worse when America is being saturated with guns, not content with one AR many are buying more for the family, and historically the average gun owner never had more than a box or two of cartridges now they are thing of a protracted long battle may be forced upon them individually, and since the Feds won’t offer any program to help the individual stock up on much needed emergency protection ammunition they are doing it all the way as many do in America....with style.

One rifle, 100 rounds in years past, now its several rifles and pistols, on average now three long guns and two pistols per house, each with several thousand round, if there is a .22lr the smart ones have no less than 5,000 rounds or ten bricks. Severe ammo buyers are actually getting more like a 6 figure amount.

The general consensus is that Americans will be forced to some form of a Revolutionary war against an invasive illegal government. And they want to be as best prepared as they can.

Yesterday, in the local Walmart's ammo case, there were about dozen boxes (total - three or four flavors) of large rifle calibers; three boxes of .410, half dozen boxes of 12ga birdshot.

That was it.

Agree, particularly ammo. Store shelves are already bare of ammo. Guns; you can find guns on the shelf. However, prices which had started to tilt down immediately after the gun bill failed, have taken off again.

The reporter is probably just clueless about what has been going on since November and December. Heck, here’s a “news” item from last week from CBS Miami:

Gun Stores Seeing A Run On Ammunition
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3010125/posts

Obviously there’s nothing new about that story, they are months behind the curve.

I think the reporters of this story are in the same boat. They saw the Marathon Bombings, saw the big lines that have been the norm for the last few months, and made an inaccurate connection.

After all the panic is over, wait about 6 months and the prices of everything will be back to normal or lower (I am thinking a lot lower).

How is this possible???

There wasn’t any ammo two weeks ago. How can there be LESS?

One thing we can all do to help is to stop buying over-priced ammo from on-line auction sellers. I suspect most on-line sellers are actually retailers who are pulling their allocations off their store shelves to create the perception of a shortage then selling their stock on-line at huge markups while telling their store customers "sorry, all out. Really hard to come by."

Buy only what you need for the next 6 months and when you do buy, look for bargains.

And teach your favorite firearms to like reloads.

That pretty much sums up the Walmart inventory in every store in mid America from my observation. If you own an 870 or a Taurus Judge, your set..........anything else.........you basically just have a club for now.

I’m wondering if attendance at ranges is way down. No supplies......no activity. At least that’s my theory.

A 'big picture' observation in regard to the anecdotal ammunition non-availability situation noted above:

(setting aside for the moment the supply-side distortion of the fed.goon fascist wet dreamers ..)

FR & and similar sites along the conservative spectrum can boast of a huge number of on-the-books members.

Additionally, it's relatively safe to assume that the number of like-minded, patriotic visitors/lurkers/etc is at least an order of magnitude greater than that.

Yet even if all of that assemblage of like minds is stocking up, there's no way it approaches accounting for all the empty shelves everywhere.

It leads (me, anyway) to the conclusion that there's a definite 'something' in the air that's being sensed & prepared for by millions of average Americans, folks not in the habit of frequenting political sounding boards and similar outlets.

I bring that up by way of encouragement to any patriots occasionally dishearted by the ceaseless onslaught of treason being spewed by the Enemedia and the Øbject of their traitorous lust.

Many are convinced that supply will recover and all will eventually return to 'normal', while others are equally convinced that such will not occur.

Either way, the enemy on the left - and yes, those denigrating and undermining the Constitution are precisely that, by definition - would do well to take careful note of that palpable 'something'.
