Marco Rubio’s press secretary likens non-citizen permanent residency to slavery
Twitchy ^ | Monday April 22, 2013

Alex Conant @AlexConant: "We haven't had a cohort of people living permanently in US without full rights of citizenship since slavery".

Mind you, he isn’t talking only about illegal immigrants. He’s talking about any non-citizen who lives in this country permanently, including millions of Green Card holders.

And by implication:

Conn Carroll @conncarroll: For those of you keeping score at home, Rubio spokesman @AlexConant just compared all Schumer-Rubio opponents to slave owners

If this is Team Rubio’s strategy for winning over conservatives, good luck with that.

And he will not get one more liberal vote because of this stance...and he will just lose most of his conservative support.

This is not how you win elections.

Rubio was always known to be a protege of Jeb Bush. Once he got into office he quickly built alliances with the Establishment in D.C. He only rode the Tea Party train to get elected

Not smart enough and not principled enough to be president.

I think his true colors are showing through. I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt but I was always suspicious that he was worse than just squishy on this issue.

First let me thank you for your service and your brother’s sacrifice.

I can’t figure out what is happening with Rubio. The “Old Guard”...I get. But these “young guns” that should be reforming the party are caving. Disappointing is an understatement.

I am not very familiar with Florida politics, but was very intrigued with Marco Rubio’s campaign, and very optimistic about his conservative values. Was his campaign a complete fraud? I am so disappointed in this man on so many levels. Who can we conservatives trust if someone we thought was one of us could sell out so quickly? I didn’t know he was associated with Jeb Bush which would be the kiss of death for me regarding ANY candidate.

They aren’t that stupid. This is purposeful to send a message to us saying we can do anything we want and you have no say.

Other than being Latino, I don’t know what he brings to the table.

The more I hear from guys like Marco, the more I like Rand.

Wish this pudgy mortgage deadbeat would cease his ethnic-loyalty-based assault on my homeland and go back to making up BS stories about his family history.

So how will Rush and Mark parse this?

Rubio dragged both dummies right into his tar pit

The older Boston Bomber was a a LPR. Is he saying that guy should have been a citizen?

In all seriousness, LPR status is a path to citizenship. What this idiot is alluding to is illegals working for low wages because they are illegal, working off the books. In some sectors H-1B workers get abused, but I only have anecdotal evidence of that.

RUSH was out a funeral on Friday.

He must have been attending the funeral of Rubio’s GOP political career.

Trust Rubio less than I do Rand Paul, don't trust Rand Paul at all.
Rubio playing up to the GOP-E, Rand Paul right on some issues, but probably as nutty as his old man on others.
We don't need either as a candidate in 2016, which they are both jockeying for.
Yes, either would be better than Hillary, but we need much, much better than those two.

The GOP-E hands off our culture & citizenship to criminal invaders & then calls us slave-owners for objecting?

I think Rand is on board with this insanity.

But they all are or so it seems.

The Pubs think this will buy them votes.

Re: “Did Marco Rubio change suddenly?”

No.

As Speaker of the Florida House he blocked several GOP bills that would have authorized Arizona-style immigration enforcement.

After being elected to the US Senate, Rubio hired a chief of staff who was once a lobbyist for the Association of Immigration Lawyers.

Citizenship for illegals is all about shifting the political balance to the left. They want a RINO vs Socialist country where those pesky conservatives have no influence. Anyone who is for citizenship is NOT on our side.

It’s been known that Marco Rubio has ties to the Bush clan. Jeb brought Rubio under his wings when he was the governor of FL and that’s why there are jokes going around about Rubio being Jeb’s puppet. If one just look at Rubio’s staff, one can quickly see that it’s fill with alot of team Bush and team Romney acolytes and associates
