Anyone who considers Marco Rubio suitable for the presidency should read this piece by Rich Lowry. We would expect a president to be able, at a minimum, to hold his own in negotiations with the smartest people in the opposition party. As Lowry shows, Rubio has failed that test: ... Schumer managed to hold Rubio and win his grudging respect, while selling him a lopsided deal. Rubio traded amnesty — although he refuses to call it that — for an enforcement plan on paper and a commission to be named later. ... Schumer’s genius is to have placated Rubio not just with promises, but with new versions of old promises. Rubio touts the bill’s mandate for the creation of an exit-entry tracking system, a key piece of the puzzle of controlling who comes here. Congress first mandated the creation of such a system in 1996. ... Pro-amnesty advocacy groups and the business lobby will work to undermine enforcement in the courts and in Congress. ... If this is the case, then Rubio is clever enough to be president, but not principled enough that conservatives should support him in that quest. But it looks to me like Schumer simply sold Rubio a bill of goods.

It's painfully obvious to anyone who's studied the 1986 amnesty what's going on here. There's a media-pleasing song and dance about policing the border and improving enforcement, which gets the Sunday talk shows swooning at the hip, supposedly bipartisan Gang of Eight and their magical plan to secure America. In the meantime, a behind-the-scenes cabal of leftists and open-borders diversity lobbyists, hand in hand with the Chamber of Commerce and the multinational corporation big business cheap labor lobby, and the neocon globalists who've infiltrated the Republican Party Establishment as pretend "conservatives", all pool their vast financial resources to undermine any sensible enforcement or border monitoring, while promoting the H1B visa and other measures to import the rest of the world at starvation wages and drive even more Americans out of jobs and decent incomes. This treasonous cabal is represented in the Senate by the Gang of Eight, especially by Robert Menendez, Chuck Schumer, John McCain and Michael Bennet, who've managed to play Rubio and Graham in particular like a cheap after-market fiddle.
To these idiots, in thrall with cheap labor and open borders in their ruling elite bubble, there's little consideration about the catastrophe this bill would unleash on the American people and nation as a whole. So what if the Constitution is upended, or the rule of law is subverted? So what if Americans, already driven to mass destitution, poverty and crushing debt by 5 years of Obama's mismanagement, see their wages pushed down even lower and their jobs disappear? So what if the H1-B visa allows even more trumped-up false degree holders from India and Pakistan to be imported into the tech industry and shoved into ten-person slum-style apartments, forcing even more indebted Americans out of work and gutting our own tech industry even further? For Rubio, Grahamnesty and the Gang of Eight, it's a "price worth paying" for the cheap labor.
These jerks are even willing to commit treason and endanger American security for the cheap workers. It's becoming evident that the Tsarnaev brothers were just the tip of the iceberg of a terrorist sleeper cell, among probably thousands already in the USA waiting to be activated for their next attack. Hardly a surprise given that documents in Afghanistan showed al-Qaida doing just that, using our lax immigration enforcement to smuggle in even more terrorist sleeper cells and infiltrate them throughout the country. The Tsarnaev brothers were legal immigrants! But to the Gang of Eight, that's not a problem. To them, tens of thousands of Americans killed and maimed by al-Qaida terrorist sleeper cells is a bargain in return for the dirt-cheap labor and crumbling US standard of living.
It's critical to focus our political activism to put smothering pressure on these RINO traitors, to primary them and to send a message. I even wonder if the moment of mass demonstrations is near considering how much these well-placed crooks continue to ignore the vast majority of Americans, struggling in this economic mess, to put the brakes on further wage-depressing immigration and simply enforce the laws already on the books, many of them from the 1986 bill. Primary opponents should start speaking up now, write letters to the editor, and we need to call our Senators and House Reps every day, light up their switchboards and mail and email, with insistent and angry reminders that we will not accept this treason. Like in 2006 and 2007, but even more forceful now.
It's smart politics as well as principle. I have plenty of otherwise apolitical friends who've become active and hopping mad at Congress on the immigration betrayal above anything else. Even many Dems who disagree with us on most issues, but will go to the polls to vote for a patriotic conservative who strongly opposes amnesty and the H1B visa. (For example the pro-amnesty and pro-H1B position of Amy Klobuchar in Minnesota has caused her popularity to crumble even among Dems and Independents.) This one issue trumps everything else for hundreds of millions of voters, since it's tied in so directly with the miserable economy under Obama, with respect for our laws and the security of our nation in general. The path to conservative victory in 2014 starts with taking a strong stand against the immigration treason as being pushed by Marco Rubio, Lindsey Graham, John McCain and their fellow criminals against our nation. Anyone from their states have ideas on primary opponents that the grass roots can start mobilizing for?
Any so called republican who trusts Chuckie Schumer on anything is hopeless.
The bill is a joke and I can’t believe Rubio and Flake are trying to sell something so obviously bad.
We need to expose it in committee.
It will fall apart mark my words.
Rubio is a good, honest man. I am glad he is a Republican and, generally, a conservative. However... He needs a whole lot more seasoning. He obviously fails to understand just how dishonest and sneaky the rats are. And he talks a little too fast, a little too confidently.
No, he is most definitely not ready for prime time. Not yet, and not by a long shot.
What kind of judgment do you have to possess to trust a complete scumbag like Schumer even a little bit?

He got out foxed by an old hand. Schumer mat be a communist numbskull, but he’s been in DC a long time and knows how to make mincemeat of a noob like Rubio.
Rubio is naive? Naive??? At this level of politics, being naive is akin to being roadkill.
My best advice for Rubio is to use a strong bleach to wash the tire marks off his back. The DNC/RINOS likes to run people over.
Rubio should have known better. Now, he’s just become another DC tool, and Schumer’s rent boy to boot.
And for that Rubio deserves our patience and good will? While his disaster of an immigration bill is rammed down our throats?

I won't go as easy on him as you. The rats have been dishonest and sneaky for 60 or 70 years now. If he has not figured it out by now, he never will. There is a very good reason the Pubbies are called the stupid party. Sorry to be so negative, but I have no confidence in them, whatsoever.
Rubio sees immigration reform as a political issue rather than a constitutional and sovereignty issue.
He is not ready for prime time.
Immigration policy should first, foremost, and always serve the interests of citizens.
Rubio and Flake only got 49% in good years for their state GOP.
There’s also opposition to Rubio wanting to get involved in Syria.
This is why I suspect they’re all vulnerable to a primary challenge, esp Linda Graham. Graham’s popularity has plummeted from about 75 to around 55% with all his dumb attention-hogging, and the only reason it hasn’t fallen further is the absence of a concerted primary opposition, name recognition and most people still not being aware of his betrayal on amnesty and the H1B. Same with McCain and Rubio. If we shine a harsh light on them and start supporting a primary opponent early, someone like Lee Bright in South Carolina, we can start cleaning house and sending the messages we need to send.
Anybody who can so easily be made a fool of by Chuck Schumer, John McCain and Lindsey Graham is not fit to be President and probably never will be. It was almost embarrassing to listen to him babble on Levin and Rush’s program last week. I think Rush and Mark felt sorry for him.
From now on, he’ll be known as Rube-io.
Yes, Rubio does deserve our patience and good will. He’s young and reasonably conservative. Ted Cruz he is not, but we need a Rubio to learn the ropes and not get out foxed in the future.
We learn by doing.
Schumer is a career politician, and an experienced deck hand. ( NYS Assembly, NYS Senate, US Congress, and US.Senate). So Rubio, should take note of how Schumer ran rings around him and learn how to not let it happen to him again, and in the reverse learn from Schumer how it is done.
Certainly Rubio might be in over his head, but no worse then Barry Soetoro still is.
In his first foray he got taken to the cleaners. But the proposal isn’t law yet. We need to get to Rubio and get his mind right. He may well turn out to be exemplary, and he may turn out to be a dud. Be we need to get his some real experience before we decide to throw him overboard.
So you think Rubio will “season” and “learn the ropes” in Washington and thereby become MORE CONSERVATIVE?
When is the last time you saw that happen? Can you please point out to me the many fine conservative senators, congressmen and, hell, why not, Presidents who have seasoned and deepened and wised up into great conservatives?
Why would you kid yourself in that manner? Is not the direct opposite the plain, obvious, everyday truth? That if anything Marco Rubio will run ever more quickly down the path of McCain, Graham, the Bushes, Tom Coburn, Orin Hatch, Richard Lugar, Toomey, Scott Brown, Rob Portman, Chambliss-—on and on and on?
So Marco Rubio is, two years after being elected with Tea Party support to the U.S. Senate, going to swerve left on immigration then immediately swing hard right and begin his solemn, unflinching and unprecedented march toward staunch rock-ribbed Reagenesque glory?
