Are those hydros in southern Idaho? I don’t recall seeing them along the interstate from Montana through Washington state (except along the gorge) while traveling.

I'd guess all those resort towns would fight the floating windmills 3 miles off shore because tourism has basically replaced the timber industry. I just read where the last lumber mill in Josephine County is closing for lack of timber.

Alla Weinstein, the CEO of the company being subsidized (Principle Power), has dumped lots of money over the years into Democratic campaigns, including Sen. Patty Murray and the Golfer-in-Chief’s. She’s getting millions from the DOE as payback. Just another eco-scam of the taxpayer.

This should work well. Take a concept that has no payback on shore and put it out in a stormy salt environment with the added costly marine vessel or structure which requires additional maintenance.

Perfect description of what liberalism does: Spend lots of money under cover of great intentions with built-in problems (at times catastrophes) that will require lots more spending to address but never resolve.

Just for grins I just took a drive over to Gem Lake. About 4 miles from me as the road flies. From the top of the dam. If you look close you can see the windmills under the sign.

This isn't a huge facility. But they could put them all along this river without hurting a thing.

Looks like it’s a pretty good effort to get the state and federal subsidies and you can bet they’ll keep putting up more as long as those subsidies continue.

And we’re all too happy too fork over that money to the government./s We used to get a nice credit on our power bill because of these 2 (another above town) power stations in Idaho Falls. But when Rocky Mountain Power took over that went away.

That photo could be a duplicate for the closed aluminum mill area at the Goldendale cutoff off I-84 in the Gorge. I’ve driven that road many times in the past on my west to the ocean.

Just about everyone I knew in Ohio and Michigan had boats and fished. Haven’t fished in years, but at the time long ago it was relaxing and the views were great.

That is a making gravel setup on farm land on the other side. They set up last summer. The telephoto just makes it show up. The state declares eminent domain and tooked that farmers fields and opened pits. He gets a nice useless empty gravel pit in return and bye bye farmland. There really isn't much in the way of big industry here. Potato processing plants and the Budweiser and Corona malting plants. They grow a lot of good malting barley around. The travel brochures probably show the upper snake along the Henry's fork, ya know, towards Yellowstone, or coming out over at Jackson Lake, Wyoming. And that is where I want the touristas--away from me. But I catch some nice trout hereabouts. Great when you can drive for 5 minutes from your house and catch a fat Rainbow, or German Brown.
