John McCain & Lindsey Graham Want You to Know Boston Bombings Won’t Slow Immigration Reform By Becket Adams | Sens. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) on Friday released a statement saying that despite the week's events with the Boston Marathon bombing, it won't deter or slow their efforts to pass comprehensive immigration reform.

Here's their statement, released before the capture of 19-year-old suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev:

In the wake of this week's terrorist attack in Boston, some have already suggested that the circumstances of this terrible tragedy are justification for delaying or stopping entirely the effort for comprehensive immigration reform.

In fact the opposite is true: Immigration reform will strengthen our nation's security by helping us identify exactly who has entered our country and who has left - a basic function of government that our broken immigration system is incapable of accomplishing today. The status quo is unacceptable.

We have 11 million people living in the shadows, which leaves this nation vulnerable to a myriad of threats. That is all the more reason why comprehensive immigration reform is so essential.

Surprise! Sen. Chuck Schumer of New York and other guardians of political correctness have declared a taboo against linking the two jihadist Muslim terrorists in Boston to our failed immigration policies.

Two young Muslim immigrants have been identified as the culprits behind the Boston Marathon slaughter. Using homemade “backpack” bombs constructed on the models in al-Qaida training manuals, they killed three people, maimed a dozen others and injured over 170. Yet, our nation’s lawmakers are not supposed to worry about how the immigration system allows legal entry to thousands of individuals from territories infested with jihadist training camps?

Sen. Schumer has reasons to be worried. His 844-page amnesty bill is in enough trouble already without these uninvited guests crashing the Schumer-Rubio Happy Hour.

Americans not infected by the common disease Potomac Myopia can connect the dots. Ordinary folk assume that a successful immigration system should afford protection against jihadists, not a welcome mat. When citizens say they want our broken immigration system fixed, they think that means securing our borders, real enforcement of immigration laws and better screening against jihadists gaining legal status by way of a green card.

The political reaction to the horrific news out of Boston should serve to alert Americans to this unpleasant fact: Sens. Schumer, Rubio and other members of the “Gang of Eight” have different priorities. Most citizens will be shocked to find out that the bill this “Gang” introduced this past week, S.744, actually makes it easier, not more difficult, to enter the United States illegally and then obtain legal status and citizenship.

I have yet to see a single politician who understands that immigration policy should first and foremost serve the interests of citizens.

And that the people allowed to come here should be people who want to be us, and that they should be brought in numbers that can be easily assimilated. More people could theoretically be allowed in from countries that will easily assimilate, while others who are harder to assimilate you obviously allow fewer if any at all.

You should never allow immigration from any one country in numbers large enough that they establish colonies that do not assimilate. And your immigration policy should actively filter out people who do not want to assimilate.

That is all the more reason why comprehensive immigration reform is so essential.

As everybody knows, if a bill has a title with the word "comprehensive" in it, that's a clear tipoff that the bill contains loads of pork and crap provisions that would NEVER pass on their own merit as stand-alone measures. McCain and Graham can take their "comprehensive" pile of crap and shove it where the sun don't shine.
