Fact Check: Marco Rubio Distorts His Bill During Rush Limbaugh Interview
Numbers USA ^ | Apr. 19, 2013 | Chris Chmielenski,

Posted on 04/19/2013 6:08:36 AM PDT by EXCH54FE

If the Senate is going to pass the Gang of Eight's amnesty bill in the 113th Congress, they're going to need Marco Rubio to sell it to his Republican colleagues. After the bill's introduction yesterday morning, Rubio began his sales pitch last night by appearing on Mark Levin's radio program. But the big sell came today when he tried to convince Rush Limbaugh. Unfortunately for Rubio, Limbaugh didn't bite even with his distorted details.

Yesterday, Rubio's staff began an aggressive campaign to dispel any myths that were circulating in the mainstream media. Given his staff's attention to the details of the bill, we thought we should return the favor by providing the same kind of scrutiny to his defense of the bill to Rush Limbaugh. Here's what we found...

For starters, Rubio did an about-face from an earlier appearance on Limbaugh's program. On January 29, 2013, he said:

If, in fact, this bill does not have real triggers in there, if there is not language in this bill that guarantees that nothing else will happen unless these enforcement mechanisms are in place, I won't support it.

Now that the bill's out, we know that it legalizes most of the 11-18 million illegal aliens before any enforcement provisions kick in. Rubio didn't deny it.

We don't want to wait on legalizing, and I'll tell you why, and my original position was that we wanted to secure the border first and then legalize. The problem is we have millions of people here now, by some estimates 10, 11 million. We want to know who they are and freeze the problem in place. I don't want that number to grow.

The other thing that made me mad, was he said no federal benefits. well, lots of the benefits are run through the states with the federal government providing funding.

Rubio is trying to pull a fast one.

Rush is living proof that you don’t need a degree from an ivy covered university to be smart, perceptive and literate..

We have to get out in front of the next election cycle and pick our candidates and not let the press, RINO pudnits (like screamin’ Coulter), or lib leaning states first in the primaries do it for us.

As one who was willing to give this... or something like it..a chance, I vote thumbs down. In Rush's conversation, and another yesterday, I heard lots of proposed details and zero discussion of a fence. I'd like to hear; "Build a fence, secure the border, then we'll talk. Or when the border is secure, these provisions initiate, but not until then.

If the first govt. commission doesn't get the job done, they'll create another one ??? Sounds foolproof, eh ?

As currently proposed, I understand there are legal loopholes which could tie things up in court ( a near certainty) which would then allow Homeland Security to deem whatever they wanted to deem.

The dems seem to like it, so I'm petrified from the start. I don't believe the House will allow it, so the bottom line may be Rubio's creds crashing in flames.

Cream rises and so has Cruz. Rubio went too far, curdled and needs to be scooped away.

Rubio has self-immolated.

Better than Crist, to be sure, but still owned by the Big Business Lobby and La Raza.

“It doesn’t matter one iota how much border control is in his bill because it will be enforced the same as the border control in the current law... meaning ZERO enforcement. “

So true. The Congress can pass any law they want but getting Napolitano and Holder to enforce is immpossible.

Rubio is at worst a RINO traitor and at best a clueless rube. Either way, he’s finished as far as I am concerned.

Until they will enforce the current laws, which would cause most illegals to deport themselves, there is no sense is creating new laws to ignore.

Let’s face facts: Polidiots are using illegal aliens as illegal votes. We are not being represented, illegal aliens are.

Call your Senators now and tell them “NO!”

They need to hear from everyone. This bill is anti-American, and will not secure us.

Eleven plus years after 9/11/01 and our borders are still sieves.

Thousands of crimes are committed everyday by these “folks in the shadows”.

No other country tolerates this, not even Mexico, the hellhole that it is.

So, with 23 million people out of work, why should we?

So, NOT securing the border means that the NUMBER WON’T GROW?

Real Immigration reform is not complicated.

Section 1: Affirm the foreign citizenship of illegal aliens currently residing in the US.

Section 2: Grant foreign citizens currently in the US but gainfully employed the right to purchase a 10 year renewable work permit.

Section 3: Close the borders, deport all foreign citizens in the US not possessing a valid work permit.

Anything else is just a veiled attempt to create a permanent underclass of unproductive people beholden to the government; the perfect herd of sheeple to vote the wishes of their masters in Washington.

He should be on your radar to support a real Republican to take his place. He needs to be our #1 target/ ridding America of traitors.

Rubio is an enemy of the American Worker, freedom and Liberty.

His Chief of Staff is a George Soros employee.

Section 1: Affirm the foreign citizenship of illegal aliens currently residing in the US.

Section 2: Grant foreign citizens currently in the US but gainfully employed the right to purchase a 5 year renewable work permit. Only after this employment has been offered to every available welfare recipient who has comparable skills.

Section 3: Close the borders, deport all foreign citizens in the US not possessing a valid work permit.

Section 4: Whatever low skill job these foreign workers are performing must be offered to an existing welfare recipient. If that current welfare recipient refuses the job, his/her benefits are permanently cut off.

Section 5: Employers are 100% responsible for all care and welfare of foreign employees and their dependents, including, but not limited to: medical, housing, food, education, and transportation.

Even after Rubio's lame A$$ performance yesterday, Rush still had to make sure we knew that Rubio is a “true conservative.”

Sorry, but Rush is just as full of sh*t as Rubio is! Sadly, Rush has left all of the heavy lifting to Mark Levin. I'm seriously wondering what's happening to Rush?

“We want to know who they are and freeze the problem in place.”

Illogical!

Without securing the border & substantially stopping illegal immigration, illegals will rush to cross over to gain amnesty.

Knowing who they are, that is, identifying illegals eligible for amnesty, is not something that happens over night. It could take years given our bureaucracy.

Rubio knows full well that the Executive branch of our government has repeatedly ignored our immigration laws & failed for decades to secure our borders adequately. Nothing prevents Obama & future presidents from continuing that tradition.

The net of Rubio’s immigration law is that we will give amnesty, welfare, & quick citizenship to anyone who can sneak into the country. This is not an immigration bill. It is an open borders bill!

I’ve long maintained that opposition to a border fence/wall on the grounds that it would not work are based on the fact that it would work.
