ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia (AP) — The chief executive of Ethiopian Airlines says it is seeking approval from America's Federal Aviation Administration and from Boeing to put its grounded Boeing 787s back into service.

Ethiopian Airlines chief executive officer Tewolde Gebremariam told The Associated Press that the company expects FAA approval within a few days.

The Boeing 787 Dreamliners have been grounded since January because of a risk of fire from the plane's lithium batteries.

Boeing's stock has risen the last few weeks. Hopefully, this issue becomes a minor issue and doesn't hurt the company.

It’s fascinating that Ethiopian Airlines can consider placing a 787 Dreamliner back into the skies, before American Airlines or any other world class airlines even have access to a Dreamliner.

I wonder whether you need to wear a shirt to fly Ethiopian?
(I’ve sat next to way too many oversize hairy guys with wife-beater Tee’s, to not be concerned!

I’ll wait on the Dreamliner until Boeing gets the battery pack sorted!

The other day I passed by the Boeing factory and saw a Dreamliner for the first time. Awe-inspiring. Not beautiful, but awe-inspiring.

Supposedly the FAA will lift the grounding order on the 24th.

From the grapevine.

The Dreamliner was put up for sale to anyone who wanted to buy them. Several “world-class” airlines already have them in service. I know a recent check of Lufthansa flights for a trip I plan to take had at least one leg on a ‘Liner.

The American airlines just didn’t want the plane, or at least not yet.
