On MSNBC, a Gun Debate That Fox Doesn’t Seem to Worry About (decided to cover West, Texas instead)
NY Slimes ^ | 4/18/2013 | BRIAN STELTER

President Obama hadn’t finished his first sentence on Wednesday when the Fox News Channel cut away from his Rose Garden remarks about the Senate’s defeat of a measure that would have expanded background checks for gun buyers.

(snip)

On Thursday, Mr. Scarborough, a registered Republican who promotes his conservative credentials as well as an independent streak, assailed the lawmakers who voted against the background check legislation. Citing the failed Senate vote as evidence, Mr. Scarborough said, “This party is moving toward extinction.”

That would come as news to Fox fans, who have heard comparatively little about the subject. While most of “Joe” was dedicated to guns on Thursday, Fox’s morning show, “Fox & Friends,” didn’t mention the word once. It focused instead on news about a Texas fertilizer plant explosion.

Horrible journalistic malpractice! Those scum at Faux News decided to cover a devastating blast that killed tens of people and injured hundreds...rather than to give wall to wall coverage of the petulant man-child's temper tantrum.

Inexcusable.

Brian Stelter seems to be just as much a petulant child as Obama.

Seriously what could be more important then our pout, whining, self important LOSER and his efforts to disenfranchise the American People, certainly not death, injury and destruction on a grand scale.

I loved that Fox cut away. Saved me from having to flip off channel Obama was on.

When I want to read real news, I will read the National Enquirer.

It was great - Greg Gutfeld said something like “oh, that’s what it’s going to be”, and then cut away.

“Fox & Friends” had 3 times as many viewers as “Morning Joe”
on Wednesday. It’s probably that way every day.

The “Slimes” concern troll Brian Stelter needs to buck up. His whining is disgusting.

Funny but, given what just happened in Boston, I would think that an explosion of the magnitude that happened at the TX fertilizer plant would be eminently newsworthy, certainly moreso than Obama whining about not getting his way on taking guns away from Americans.

Card carrying doesn't impress me much. Crossovers gave us McCain and others. Even Michael Bloomberg is probably registered as a Republican.

And one of the guys who funded the Gore recount was a "registered Republican" who boasted that no candidate in the history of time itself matched his views more than Al Gore. He even joined up at FR to discuss the recount when his name kept showing up here because of news coverage.

The Senate has a Majority of Democrats but its the Republican's fault it didn't pass?

Is he serious?

It’s hard to believe that even the scum sucking NYT would write a piece like this.

I automatically turn off the TV any time Obama comes on anyway as do most conservatives, and breaking news compared to listening to this poofter whine is definitelt the way to go.

That is the gutsiest thing I have seen Fox do ever! I actually applauded, suspended between the mute button and the change channel button, when it became immediately evident that he was not going to address the Senate event, but turned on his typical verbal diarrhea about "Gabby Giffords," a total irrelevancy and tedious repetitive exploitation on a sad vegetable, irrelevant to the actual ongoing events.

My only disappointment was that it happened during the telecast of The Five, and they succumbed to the PC stupidity of an immediate apology. Sort of took the edge off the gutsy move. What was the damage done to Hussein? Every other Hussein Propaganda network was showing the bullchit no-information speech.
