I can imagine! We used to use a fertilizer / fuel mix as the explosive at an open pit mine where I worked. The mid day blast was spectacular.

Prayers for the people affected.

My biggest fear about working at the refinery; the cat cracker exploding. The blast radius would encompass half of Wood River..

Of course I am more concerned about the injured, though, but yes, I am glad the Czech Stop is fine. Like to make it back down to WestFest one of these years.

Woah, hold it!

The youtube video on the Dallas news site is NOT of the plant fire today in West, Texas. It’s a repost of the famous rocket fuel plant explosion that happened years ago. Don’t believe me? Here’s the link to the original video... look... same camera... same buildings!

How the heck can a news station IN TEXAS do something this stupid?

Yep..I’ve seen that footage on a bunch of documentaries - I think that was in Nevada.

Note that the pics in this thread are all of Waco, I think.

Anniversary of waco? This is just a coincidence folks :-). North Korea hires Al Qaeda to do Boston (maybe gives them a suitcase nuke) and wants us to think homegrown terrorists did it so they stage ricin attacks from MS and waco explosion on da anniversary. Not a bad strategy. Fasten your seatbelts.

Ft. Worth Star-Telegram:

SNIP

The plant is about three miles north of the town popular for kolache bakeries on Interstate 35W.

A spokeswoman for the Department of Public Safety in Waco, told television station KWTX that DPS troopers have been transporting the injured to hospitals in their patrol cars. She says six helicopters were also en route.

KWTX reported that the explosion at West Fertilizer was reported at 7:50 p.m. in a frantic call from the scene.

It was unclear an hour later if anyone was killed, but several injured people came to the Czech Stop bakery, said Barbara Schissler, president of the store.

"There have been many injuries," she said by phone. "It's just crazy here. Like a war zone."

I know, I know. To be fair, I wouldn't have commented if the photo hadn't been taken in the Czech Stop parking lot. My family would be inconsolable if that place closed.

Prayers up for the injured and for the emergency responders, as usual.
