Statement from Chris W. Cox on U.S. Senate Defeat of Manchin-Toomey-Schumer Amendment
Today, the misguided Manchin-Toomey-Schumer proposal failed in the U.S. Senate. This amendment would have criminalized certain private transfers of firearms between honest citizens, requiring lifelong friends, neighbors and some family members to get federal government permission to exercise a fundamental right or face prosecution. As we have noted previously, expanding background checks, at gun shows or elsewhere, will not reduce violent crime or keep our kids safe in their schools.
The NRA will continue to work with Republicans and Democrats who are committed to protecting our children in schools, prosecuting violent criminals to the fullest extent of the law, and fixing our broken mental health system. We are grateful for the hard work and leadership of those Senators who chose to pursue meaningful solutions to our nations most pressing problems.

It wasn’t misguided. It was done with evil intent.

I hope the NRA has learned a lesson in all of this. The lesson is that they cannot count on A-rated Rats and RINOs. Manchin is a prime example of a Rat. Toomey is a prime example of a RINO.

This was not a victory. This was a defensive hold.
A victory will be when we get rid of unconstitutional gun laws.

The U.S. Constitution is the Law of the Land.
"infringe" means "to break"
To touch the Second Amendment in any way, shape or form is
to BREAK THE LAW.

Just say Bob "The Blob" Beckel on THE FIVE blow a main steam valve announcing this vote.
Of course he had to distort it with a typical liberal lie by saying it was a defeat for background checks at gun shows.
But anything that makes this ultra-lefty unhappy is something that has to be good for America.

This was not a victory. This was a defensive hold. I agree, we temporally stopped an attack. We didnt gain any ground, we just didnt loose any.
With that said, it is still the best news I have heard in awhile.

This was not a victory. This was a defensive hold. That is why I so detest the inane but generally accepted idea that compromise in the legislature is a good thing.
When republicans compromise with democrats it is a win for the socialist/lefty/PC forces and a loss for the Constitution and the Republic.

"In any compromise between good and evil, it is only evil that can profit."
