Wow — they are right on the ball — and he didn’t even say the word “rape”.

Well, would you have voted for him in the primary? Apparently the Republicans in his district want(ed) him elected. My point is that the party has essentially (rightly) disowned him because of his behavior, whereas if he were a Democrat his party would (wrongly) support him.

All the left has to do is run the video of him crying when caught and talking about how much he loves the mistress and his ‘soul mate’.....over and over and over.

You do realize that he won the GOP primary? What does that say about South Carolina Republicans?

It says that they, too, have their share of low-information voters.

Wonder how the Argentine "soul mate" is working out?

Actually I don't wonder, I've seen enough of life to know. Even if he marries his "fiancee," it won't be more than a couple of years before the bloom is off the rose. If he wins the congressional seat, maybe they'll stick it out a bit longer.

Wash Rince and Repeat Prebius needs to go. He’s worse than Michael Steel.

Looks like Colbert’s sister is going to get in The House of Representatives the same way Obama did, disqualify your opponent on his bad actions, not on any merits of your qualifications.

SC has open primaries...Dems voted this Sanford in so he would be the Republican running and would easily be beaten!

This is why you don't risk nominating obviously flawed candidates. The election becomes about their glaring personal flaws instead of policy positions.

Conservatives with values and standards didn’t want him tarred and feathered, just out of the limelight and NOT running for national office.

They didn’t know who the alternative was.

Remember, Sanford is a two-term governor, and up until his little “hiking the AT” stunt, he was generally pretty popular. Especially in his first term, he met the big-spending fat cat Republican establishment in the General Assembly head-on...and rarely for a governor in a state with a very weak executive branch, he often won. Nobody else in the first primary had anywhere near the name recognition he did. When it came down in the runoff to him and Bostic, again, Sanford is the big well-known name (for good and bad), Bostic is “who?”. That’s Sanford’s old House district to boot, so he had even more of a home field advantage.

Now come to find out that so he says, he went over to Jenny’s house to watch the Super Bowl with his 14-year-old son, and she caught him in there. Galactically stupid. That wasn’t known before the primary, and it makes me give a little bit of credence to Sanford saying that the information on the complaint was leaked *after* the primary on purpose since it happened on Super Bowl weekend. Still, I agree that the voters should’ve rejected Sanford’s comeback, but I guess even in the Bible Belt, voters are so jaded that they’re willing to forgive adultery and lying if the candidate “seems” sincere.

Personally, as much as I liked the guy—and I voted for him for governor in his first term—I couldn’t vote for him again. Adultery is a non-starter for me. If you break one oath, you’ll break the one you’re administered when you take office.

He is the GOP’s John Edwards.

Maybe they'll team up for an Edwards-Sanford ticket. They'll have to form a new party. Lessee, The Swinger party? Old Unfaithfuls? Decrepit HornDogs? They can get Weiner to join as campaign chairman or PR specialist.

Another “safe” red seat thrown away because of a terminally flawed candidate...

Yep. And it's worse than that. SC has only one RAT in Congress, James Clyburn. Wyoming has 100% Republicans in national government. So SC was the second reddest state. If a RAT takes the 1st District, as seems likely, SC may loose our ranking as second reddest state. And that would be a shame.
