The local police would not necessarily be the arresting agency. This is now a Federal matter with the FBI running the investigation. They might keep the BPD out of the loop.

Or could be they brought in a dark skinned muslin and DoJ said wrong skin color - go find somebody else. Seriously they may be just being more precise and the person is a person of interest or suspect but has not been foprmerly arrested or charged yet. All sorts of possibilities.

However if they are still looking for the guy why even divulge anything to the media?
