REPORT: A Second Letter Sent To The US Senate Tests Positive For Poison

Michael Kelley
April 17, 2013

A second letter sent to the U.S. Senate has tested positive for the poison ricin, according to Terry Moran of ABC News.

Last night Poltiico reported that an envelope sent to an office of Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) tested positive for the deadly poison.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, ricin is a poison naturally found in castor beans. It gets inside the cells of a person's body, preventing the cells from making any proteins. It can come in the forms of a powder, a mist, or a pellet, or it can be dissolved in water or weak acid.

As little as 500 micrograms — smaller than a grain of sand— can kill an adult.

Mail to the Senate has been halted as of yesterday. Last night Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) told CNN that police have already identified a suspect who sends a lot of letters to lawmakers.

In 2004 three Senate offices were shut down becasue of a ricin scare. Postal workers began sorting through mail at an off-site facility after anthrax attacks in 2001 targeted lawmakers including then-Majority Leader Tom Daschle and Vermont Sen. Patrick Leahy.

The letter sent to Wicker, which tested positive three times in the field, has been sent to a Maryland lab for further testing.

Here we go again, just like after 9/11.

Strange coincidence that both the 9/11 and the Boston attacks were followed immediately with poisoned letters to federal legislators.

That’s two Republican Senators.

Janet Incompetano will soon be saying that the perps must be Teabaggers.

I agree, the similarity can’t be a coincidence. These had to be mailed Monday at the latest, or earlier if it was from outside of DC. Could not have been initiated after the Boston bomber struck.

Besides Wicker, who(m) is the second letter addressed to?

Yes, I know, the names could be randomly chosen.

Also a strange coincidence that with hot-button issues like gun control and immigration up for votes they’ve found a convenient excuse NOT to deliver constituent mail.

Interesting observation.

hmmm... McCaskill claims they already know who it is...you would expect law enforcement to announce an arrest soon then. Unless she is lying to avoid panic.

I am not seeing where the name of second senator is cited. ??? Fox News saying the letter sent to President Obama...hmmm. For folks that missed it, my postal lady was wearing rubber gloves Saturday. Never seen her do that. My guess is that a precautionary directive was sent out to postal workers a few days before this story broke. If so, the government has been sitting on this story since before the bombing. I don’t think they are related.

I count one Senator. The report is, well, weird ...

A second letter sent to the U.S. Senate has tested positive for the poison ricin, according to Terry Moran of ABC News.

Fox News National Security Producer Mike Levine, citing the FBI, reports that the second letter was addressed to PResident Obama.

Sent "to the Senate ... to President Obama" is nonsense. Wicker is mentioned as an addressee. McCaskill claims authorities have a suspect. What other Senator is an addressee?

Maybe the sender doesn’t keep up on all the news and doesn’t realize that Senator Barack Obama (D-IL) is no longer in the Senate.

the communist liberals in DC must be getting serious about thinning out their political opposition. Mmmmm, could there be signs of the obazo hussein and a holder connection to this? Maybe Pelosi, Dify, Reid, Dupin, Whoryer or maybe even the dyke at the DHS. Hell, maybe Michael Moore sent them. Has to be home grown and it has to be from a commie leftist. CALL FOR LEGISLATION NOW TO OUT LAW and CONFISCATE ALL ENVELOPES from US CITIZENS and BLEED DRY THE USPS!!

So they'll deliver it, if they get a negative test?

Good points.
My main point is that we were not warned of this before now. I truly believe they knew these letters were out there last week because my postal lady was wearing rubber gloves on Saturday (in Texas). My husband mentioned it when I was telling him about the ricin letters last night. She handed him a package that would not fit in mailbox Saturday wearing rubber gloves. We both think it is strange. I have been getting lots of packages lately that she has to bring to door and she has never worn gloves until now.
