"They certainly are not spectators, if they can't be identified as known law enforcement at the scene I would find them extremely suspicious."

Let's assume these guys are "persons of interest". Let's even assume they are the bombers. They have baseball caps and dark sunglasses on. We have really no way of identifying those guys. There's no facial recognition software that could be used. I really believe this is a useless endeavor because I don't see how they are going to be able to track the bombers down through these pictures.

You don’t need facial recognition software. If someone really thinks they are “of interest”, you put their pictures on the local news in Boston and ask people to call if they know who these guys are. They’d get dozens of calls.

madison10~ Yesterday they said that there were plain clothes LEOs in the area. (local news/FOX affiliate) We may be seeing law enforcement, not suspects.

rockabyebaby ~ Exactly. Glad to see someone using some common sense here.

outpostinmass2 ~ Or they could be the bombers, if they are LEO then they can easily be cleared by the investigators. Or is that not common sense?

Or they could be both.

I think that the pressure cooker parts might also yield some clues; the make and model of the cooker will lead to the purchase location perhaps. Same with the backpack.

It's early, but there are lots of clues besides all the photo and video evidence.

This will get solved, maybe even within days.

Those two guys look like security / FBI / cops.

They're not wearing anything which can't be purchased anywhere online by anybody. Probably a better way to fit in, and have gear on without being questioned.

Less obtrusive than wearing a full beard, keffiyeh, and thawb.

The two operators in 5.11 gear... There’s a story there. Just not sure it has anything to do with the bombs.

RUSH: Bill Ayers didn't blow up the Boston Marathon, but somebody like him did. Somebody like him did, and that could mean that whoever did this could someday be celebrated in this country if things don't change. Whoever did it could end up being on the faculty at Columbia University.

The guys in the Khakis are LEO’s. The kid with the white cap less his backpack and his buddy in blue fit the profile IMO. And it appears in the large crowd scene photo that they are moving down course to where the 2nd bomb went off.

I am suspicious of the solo white guy with the red shirt and beard who is carrying his backpack.

If this really was a “lone wolf” he would be my TOP suspect.

I’d post the picture but never have figured out how to do that here.

In ANY gathering with a lot of 20 somethings, you will find tons of backpacks. I don't know if they just have a need to carry more stuff with them, of if it has become a fashion accessory. Personally, when I left the military I swore there would never be another freaking backpack on my back, and there hasn't been one since! But anybody under 30 with a backpack is definitely NOT unusual.

I absolutely expect hundreds of people to carry backpacks near the finish line of the world's most famous marathon that contain clothing, food, liquid refreshments, and personal items for friends and relatives who are running in the race. I also expect to see hundreds of other spectators carrying backpacks containing food, water, outerwear, etc., given the fact that many people who travel to central Boston for the marathon, Red Sox game, and other Patriot Day festivities are there for the day and travel by train or have to park a long distance away from the events. As for the guys who seemed focused away from the race, maybe they were ogling a pretty lady in a short skirt (or burka). Nevertheless, even the most benign clues are worth extra scrutiny.

I don’t understand the “remanant of explosive” picture; there is some kind of white tag on the backpack and on some other guy’s shirt-they are circled along with a white piece circled on the exploded backpack-—but they are 2 different guys.

One is cammo/LEO looking guy and the other is a guy wearing blue jeans- don’t get that link at all.

The creepiest looking guy to me is the one with the blue jacket, red shirt and sliver striped backpack. He looks odd to me for some reason-the way he is holding the packpack is different-but other than that, I got nothing-which is why I don’t do this for a living!

“Mr. Huge Backpack guy!” I see this crap all day long in New york city.

I truly hate getting whacked on the head when one of these clueless backpack guys turns around on the subway. Ugg! What is it with these rude people? They enter a crowded place with a four foot appendage on their backs and then turn around willy-nilly clocking other straphangers as if they own the place.

I can't say I would mind it if Bloomburg banned backpacks in the subway.

"The guys in the Khakis are LEO’s...."

.... I agree ... which means there were professional witnesses present at the site of the incident and in close proximity to the event. Those back packs are probably their "War Bags" containing necessary equipment for a response. This leads me to believe that there is much more info known to them than the Feds are letting on.

...I don't know if anybody noticed the change in the climate of dialogue that took place when the local LEO's announced that the Feds have taken over the investigation and jurisdiction. When the local PD were in the limelite during the immediate time after the incident .... they were quite forthcoming with information as it surfaced. Fast forward to the Feds commandeering the crime scene .... immediately the dialogue transformed into the mantra that .... "Most of the information that was reported thus far was spurious and mostly inaccurate."

Obama is involved with this somehow, and it’s somehow tied to the gun legislation moving through congress.

I think that is the guy. Just gut feeling.

However, there is a photo of someone going through a bag near the detonation site and someone looking over him. That guy has a big parka on and a stocking cap. Seems like it was too warm a day for that, since so many others are in tee-shirts. He has it buttoned all of the way up. Suspicious to me.

The suspect is absolutely not in ANY of those pictures. How can I tell? Because we all know the suspect is Richard Jewell.

He used the Iranian time machine to plot an attack that occurs AFTER his own death. Agetha Christie herself couldn't have solved this mystery.
