Saudi national no longer ‘person of interest’ in Boston bombings, no other suspects
Foreign policy ^ | April 16, 2013 | Josh Rogin

The Saudi national injured during the bomb attacks at the Boston Marathon Monday has been cleared and is no longer even a person of interest, intelligence officials told lawmakers Tuesday.

"This was a soft target. It was not a target that was able to be totally protected," he said. "This particular incident is going to cause the administration and Congress to evaluate our overall security programs around the country, particularly for major events. We can't leave it just to the communities that host these events to provide the security."

I agree with this.

From the new photos that show what appears to be a large bag (the device) sitting on the curb I have a hard time understanding how such a large bag could be just laying there unnoticed. I also find it difficult to understand how it being placed in such an obvious place would go unnoticed...Unless it was placed there by someone who would be deemed trustworthy or someone who is part of the scene and blends in well.

You would think a man dressed in black with his head covered placing a large package right by the road would not go unnoticed, but I have also observed how poor humans can be at situational awareness in crowded conditions where they are extremely distracted ( looking for loved ones finishing a race)

I really hope I’m wrong but I have a hunch it was placed there by someone who would appear to fit in... your volunteer hypothesis fits.

I posteded this comment on another thread a while ago. Boy were my instincts on point:

“The reason that suddenly the Admin/FBI is saying the Saudi student they suspect is no longer a person of interest is to give Obama breathing room to claim that the Boston “incident” is a terrorist attack. As long as there is no definitive link to Muzzies, Obama can feel free to call the attack terrorism in the national and international press without repercussions from his Arab regimes’ friends, as there is no definitive suspect. The Saudi student has had to be temporarily declassified as a suspect in order for Obama to accomplish this end.

The Arabs don’t want to hear in the public world media that they are responsible for terrorist attacks all over the globe, and particularly don’t want to hear it from Obama, whom they own starting years ago when they supported him through college, and to the present day when they basically contributed greatly to getting him hired as Prez by illegally funnelling money from rich Arabs overseas via Obama’s election website, where money was being laundered from illegal overseas sources left and right. They know this, he knows this, they own him. They could out him at any time. So he must kowtow to them, which isn’t hard for Obama to do as psychologically he is one of them anyhow.

Obama was taking flack from some of the U.S. media for not coming out in his first speech on the “incident” and calling it what it obviously was, a terrorist attack. So he had to go public to rectify this faux pas for public consumption (although it really was an intentional act by Obama of omitting the word terrorism). So, Obama and his minions (including the FBI higher ups, who are stoolies for Obama) opened a small window of opportunity for him to speak again and use the word terrorism in his comments without alienating his Arab overlords, as long as the actual suspect would remain vague (by claiming the Saudi student allegedly is not involved).

Machiavellian, but I smell a rat, and suspect that this is exactly what is happening. Word games of the first order by the masters of the art, the Obama Admin.”

Exactly. And also, what kind of domestic bomber would use a pressure cooker with serial numbers, and not file them down?

It's obvious that there is something very wrong with this. The government is covering something up, and they are getting ready to escalate it.

But the later image after the explosion shows the railing bent around the mail box in a way that is inconsistent with the explosive charge being in front of the railing where the bag is.

Exactly.

A Jihadist terrorist does not fit the Obama and media template already being laid, and creates too much of a liability of incompetence or worse for His Heinous.

A Jihadist terror attack does not fit the narrative - so it will be crafted into the Reichstag Obama and his MarxoFascists so desperately want - and to pin it on the Right Wing TEA Party groups.

Just watch he media already planting the salivating suggestions for their boy king to follow.

I’m sure all those liberal colleges and universities in the Boston area are crawling with Islamic students.

Did the US go after Saudi Arabia for 9/11 since 15 of the 19 hijackers were Saudis? Nope.

So I am not surprised at all to see this no matter how many terrorist organisation affiliations this guy has.

The Feds love Muzzies way more than the citizenry.

In looking at the second image I don’t agree that the railing was wrapped around the mail box. What I see is part of the railing is knocked to the side ( which could occur with the blast) while the portion of the railing directly behind the bag was most likely blasted away ( ie airborne or somewhere in the debris behind the blast) regardless I don’t see that the railing is wrapped merely knocked into the side of the mailbox.

World class event, security cameras, news & private citizens’ cameras, hundreds of witnesses.
Even if the beltway gang would rather have its ‘druthers’, and wouldruther call the whole thing off, they aren’t going to succeed with a fast & furious “What does it matter/Let’s blame the right wing and all move on” whitewash like Benghasi.

I’m more concerned about the domestic politics, media spin, and negligence than I am about pinning this on foreign nationals. The accusatory hostility coming from some Democrats and the likes of Chris Matthews aimed at the Right is astonishing — terrorists bomb, maim, and kill, and these irresponsible idiots immediately rally for a witch-hunt against their fellow, Conservative Americans.

Let us pause to appreciate Richard Jewell, who saved lives by noticing a bag in the Atlanta bombing and then was wrongly hounded as the #1 suspect.
