Because of the dual settings, more probably a DUO than an ELITE.

” Fagor Duo vs. Elite
home title Posted by Pressure Cooker Queen home title

If you are scratching your head and trying to figure out which model is the best for you between Fagor Duo vs. Elite, you are not alone. This post is to compare the two lines to give you some insight.

While they are similar in so many ways, there are some material differences worth highlighting.
Differences
Product Bundle Options

Both Duo and Elite are sold in a single unit as well as in a set. The Duo line also offers a second set for canning purpose only. The set includes canning accessories such as bottle freer, funnel, etc. See the entire list in the Comparison Table below.
Pressure Level

The Duo pressure cooker line is an upgrade from the Elite in terms of pressure settings which has 8 and 15 psi (pounds per square inch) for cooking delicate and tougher textured foods. The Elite only has 15 psi that doesn’t offer the option to automatically set for cooking seafood and vegetables. You’ll have to shorten the cooking time to make it work.”

Why not an old fashioned pipe bomb

6-8 inch threaded steel
Packed with either style gunpowder
Screw caps

Coated with projectile crap

Presto cooker seems like far less explosive compression than capped pipe....even worse than glued pvc

Lol...I know just who to ask?

Happily most IED builders die in their attempts to self educate. made my job a lot easier in EOD. That said do not try this shit at home people.

http://www.5nr.org/downloads/notice/PotentialTerrorist.pdf

Different vessels are either stamped w cheap methods or cast. I own a pressure cooker handed down for a few generations that may have been cast then turned on a lathe that is stainless steel.

As a pipe has threads any loose powder in said threads usually / hopefully kill the angry untrained builder versus a skilled IED engineer that knows not to let his bulk propellant be poured .

Acetone peroxide, pour boy anfo , black powder, smokeless, Et cetera.... Even bulk firecrackers when contained and allowed a containment vessel such as pipe or pressure cooker increase an IED’s lethality as the explosives basc brisance can be amplified, directed in same manner any military ordnance can with the addition of fragments.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brisance

All carefully considered, along with speed of construction from easily available components etc etc ... A monster pressure cooker such as this one...

http://www.samsclub.com/sams/all-american-pressure-canner-cooker/prod1640768.ip?pid=_CSE_Google_PLA_Kitchen-Electrics&mobileredirect=false

... can be a bitch of a killer when properly constructed as an IED . My small backpacking presto pressure cooker stamped in china from a old Chevy bumper scraped.... Not so much as a pipe bomb IMO and experience.

Detonation velocities be based on TNT being a 1. C4 being a 1.34. military Dynamites being around .80 on the scale and ANFO being .60 as a general rule. Exotics such a PBX explosives generally unavailable kick to the top of said scale with their use primarily in special weapons and specialized shape charges.

I saw the colors of the race IED and was reminded of the color of tannerite used by special effects weenies on TV shows such as sons of guns. Same colors as the race bomb IMO . Tannerite and other exploding targets are subject , when mixed properly and in a timely manner, need a blasting cap or high impact from rifle fire to properly detonate. A pressure cooker bomber usually doesn’t have a proper blasting components such as dets, blasting caps, electric bridge wires etc ... So improvised we must go. Be it chemical or mechanical.

Any number of possibilities is out there.

A skilled individual can walk down three aisles or less at a big box store and mix enough commercial components as they shop to injure or kill if they desire to do such.

Stay Safe ..... Or try.

When the pressue cooker lid fails to seal against the power of the expanding gases inside, it lets loose explosively and the gas rushes out pulling with it the debris used as shrapnel.

For an excellent example, watch Bill Clinton's face and finger as you ask him why he let Bin Laden go 6 times.

You could sure be in high demand if wtshtf

Ever happens

I confess I didn’t even know what tannerite was

I had a Guard buddy after his Nam stint lifted a few bricks of plastic and we watched him detonate it outside Jackson country club

Man cops swarmed in on us instantly after detonation....we were 100 yards away and the blast sucked out air and blew us back good....toppled a huge white oak

Other than hwy and tunnel in ground blasts

I have never seen explosive packs like that

Anyone with half a brain would buy it from WallyWorld with cash and wait a few weeks for the loop tapes or hard drives to erase over, then what?

That website comparison is wrong.

I own a Fagor Elite with the identical bottom stamp as the pressure cooker found at the scene.

It has two pressure settings, 8 and 15 psi.

It was made in Spain and is labeled so.

The Duo has a different bottom label that includes the 18/10 stainless.

Agreed. That web-site comparison is wrong. The Elite site itself states that it has two pressure settings.

Got a picture of the stamp on your Elite?

Is the nut/hole configuration on the inside lid correct?

Yes, they removed the pressure indicator stem and bolted the hole shut.

CLOSE, but not quite. Image We want a stamp where the INOX is under the GAS ELECTRIC. The metal and stamp look a lot cheaper than the metal in your picture. Not the FAG where the company name is. That is where the company name is. So it is likely "FAGOR".

Here we can see that it did indeed at one point have a side handle on it. Handle location

This photo shows the handle indent on the lid. Note the two holes. The first one has a screw and bolt in it. That appears backwards from most of the literature on the FAGOR. That may be a 'custom job' by the bomber. Clearly it had a side handle shaped just like a FAGOR. Inside Handle

According to another source, the Elite went to 2 pressure after July 2011.

“Fits only Splendid models, and the Elite models (purple lock) sold prior to July 2011.”

THIS PICTURE IS VERY CLOSE (except it is for a 4L) Here is the base of a 4L Elite FAGOR. The INOX is in the correct spot below GAS-ELECTRIC We have the GAS-ELECTRIC (but no hyphen between them) We have the FAG from FAGOR We have two of the symbols - Fire and Electic. In the top, we have the 6L CE the UL Listed the Pressure Cooker (very faint though) the dual pressure rating 0.55/1.05 bar (8 and 15 psig) and the Pressure Setpoint PS 1.6 bar (23.2 psig) So pretty much a complete match for the stamp. The quality of our stamp looks a lot cheaper than this stamp. We also do not appear to have the hyphen between gas-electric. But otherwise a match. The 4L Elite FAGOR
