His lunch was the bomb.
Airport officials detained a traveler who mentioned an explosive device at JFK only to discover he was actually talking about food referred to as The Bomb, TSA sources said.
Jason Michael Cruz, 29, was on an escalator in Terminal 7 Thursday when a TSA officer overheard him tell a friend he had the wrong kind of bomb just after 1 p.m.
She reported the conversation to her supervisor, Robert Haddok, who sent officers to a security checkpoint to question the pair.
Officials ushered Cruz and his friend, Matthew Okumoto, to a holding area, where they learned the pair was talking about a sandwich called The Bomb, airport officials said.

Better not be heard saying the in-flight movie was a bomb.
And if you have a friend named, “Jack”, don’t say “Hi” to him.
Well, we only pay a few dollars per trip to make sure these folks remain vigilant and highly trained.
Chris Dodd and Ted Kennedy special??
Since the first hijacking to Cuba in the '60's I was always told that on airport property you were NEVER to utter the word Bomb. There were numerous examples of people being removed from planes and delayed for hours, to convince me that this is true.
Or was this just an extremely poorly written story.
government is idiotic, doesn’t work and it’s most of gov that should be banned, no more socialism
D’Angelo’s Bomb is wicked good. “Give me a small bomber to go please.” Mmmm, mmmm, mmmm.
Yeah. A couple years after 9/11, my Indian boss and his Pakistani boss were in an airport discussing the finer details of manufacturing our product.
The conversation worked around to making the innards as modular as possible to minimized the number of parts in the BOM, how the BOM should be laid out, by module or by discrete components, etc. We talked at some length before it occurred to us that maybe, just maybe, we should refer to the BOM by its full name, the Bill Of Materials!
In those days, I heard that you were never to utter the word "Cuba" in an airliner.
Don’t discuss your lip balm either.
