US President Barack Obama will snub Lady Thatchers funeral by failing to send a single senior member of his administration, The Sun can reveal.
Ageing former Secretaries of State James Baker, 82, and George Shultz, 92, will lead the US delegation, the White House will announce today.
The slight comes as German leader Angela Merkel also declines the official invite. She will send her foreign minister instead.
But Downing Street is most angered by rejections from Obama, First Lady Michelle and Vice-President Joe Biden.
And none of the four surviving ex-US leaders Jimmy Carter, George Bush Sr, Bill Clinton and George Bush Jr is coming either.
The response contrasts with glowing US tributes on the day Lady Thatcher died.
A No 10 source said last night: We are a little surprised by the White Houses reaction as we were expecting a high-profile attendance.
The snub came ahead of last nights Boston marathon bomb outrage.

It’s good he’s not going. His brand of lawless and shameless Socialism would not have been welcomed by such a woman.
My Father is buried at Arl Natl and I prefer zero not attend on Memorial Day. I know my Father would feel the same way.
Good. Lady Thatcher deserves better than a a funeral marred by the presence of a parasitic loser.
Hey, I’m certainly glad he isn’t there, it is just the fact the American government, much as I loathe it, has snubbed her funeral. Thatcher was not modest about her achievements, and nor should she have been. I am sure she would have expected a better response.
Jim would ban me.
In. A. Heart. Beat.
I find I don't love America as much as I love the America I was born and reared in
Sarah Palin is a high profile American fan of Margaret Thatcher. I can’t think of a more apt response to an official snub than having her attend. She’s a sort of spokesman for the America Thatcher knew and loved.
Freeper yefragetuwrabrumuy said it well:
Obama, as is typical for socialists, is uncultured, not a gentleman, petulant, fawning over those who are brutes, and disdainful of those who are his betters.
He is a crude man, a boor, crass, and immature.
Lady Thatchers respects would not be improved by his attendance, nor by that of his proxies. His destiny, his legacy, is just a footnote reflecting his sloth and irresponsibility. He was a minor president of small consequence, whose efforts did not improve our nation.
Mrs Thatcher funerals would have become a circus if Hussein Obama came to London. Hussein would have made sure all cameras were on him when shedding his crocodile tears.
Hussein must stay home and deal with islamist terror in America, not jet set around the world. Hussein needs to start working for the safety of Americans, not play golf.
While Inthinknit’s despicable this declining, socialist country can’t gin up one leader to attend the funeral, it’s probably better the Obamastain doesn’t soil the whole event by showing up.
“I find I don’t love America as much as I love the America I was born and reared in”
Nor do I. It’s hard to continue loving a country that keeps electing corrupt statistic who would delight at your demise.
His absence should be a relief. 0bama stands for everything that Thatcher stood against.
Is anyone surprised here? Not me, I'm surprised he sent anyone as I'm sure Zero despises everything she stood for.
Lady Thatcher is more of a man than Barry will ever be.
This should not be considered a slight, they should be happy the community organiser and his big but wife are staying home,
However I am ashamed that George Bush decided not to go.
Our Country is going down the tubes and the Republican party no longer exists . As Michelle Obama has finally learned to be proud of her country, I am learning to be shamed by it the way it is represented today.
I’ll go out on a limb and give W a pass since he recently had back surgery.
With all respect Obama would be a dishonor at the funeral.... An example of America’s failures such as BHO Inc would not, in its attendance be respectful to such a powerful persons funeral as Lady Thatcher. He has no right to get near her shadow, much less stand in it.
Know that those who served the free world during her and Reagan’s administration are grateful for her work.
False representation by posers polidiots such as we see today would not have been respectful IMO.
Hopefully only true friends and family that respected her strength and consistent ideals and goals were present to lay her remains to rest.
Don’t want Obama and those like him near me when I’m alive much less when I pass from this world. I’d like to think Lady Thatcher would agree.
....just my opinion.
Inthinknit’s = I think it’s
Sorry ‘bout that confusing mess. I hate auto-correct.
Not only does that Zippy Pinhead not have any class, he doesn’t recognize it when it slaps him in the face. I’m kind of surprised Bush 41 skipping, he was the Gipper’s VP. He may have health reasons.
“I find I don’t love America as much as I love the America I was born and reared in”.........
It’s NOT America that I don’t love, its the people who are currently trying to ruin it that I despise.
America is still America but control needs to be taken back. I mAY be wrong but there are millions of people who I believe would agree.
Problem is.. it’s America that keeps electing the people trying to ruin it.
GWB just had back surgery.
I’m a little disappointed with W over this one
I think he deserves a pass on account of recent surgery, but I am shocked more conservatives aren’t going.
I read Newt Gingrich was invited, does anyone know if he is going?
Sky have just reported Dick Cheney is going.
Now I’m happy.
neither obama nor kerry is the caliber of leader that Maggie was
disrespectung the dead doesnt add a wit to them or to her
Too bad Bush 41 too weak to attend her funeral but Bush43 surely should have gone, his absence marks him as also a weakling but didn’t we already see that ... stay home and paint dog pictures, George
obama announced his disrespect and dereliction before the bombing occurred, but nice try
Disgusting display of tribal politics.
But it is what you expect from low rent grifters like the Obamas.
And I don’t think much of the Bush clan for their lack of respect either.
I am thrilled he is not going. And I hope no scumbag from this current administration goes. Lady Thatcher would understand completely.
I was thinking the same thing.
My friend a little advice: what you are felling is hatred of FedGov, not America or Americans in general. the 535 idiots should be the focus of your wrath. This is why I believe it is too late to save ALL of the USA, I wish a state(s) would secede and start over again WITH the Constitution. I have hope anyways, some will wake up eventually.
I can’t think of a single living person that I dislike more than barak HUSSEIN obama.
Cheney’s all we need. Maybe also Jean Kirkpatrick
No surprise that the bozo in the White Hut is insulting Britain, nor the other Dem ex-presidents, but the failure of the Bush family does, I think, show their true colors.
I hope Michael Reagan goes. He’s from the right family — the family of liberty’s champions.
And Dick Cheney...what can I say? That man always steps up and does the hard things, doesn’t he? He too is a blood brother to Lady Thatcher.
***making the effort at her weakest to be there for Reagan. I didn’t think Obama could get much lower.***
Class and Christian heritage were inherent in the British character and assimilated by ‘native’ populations in the colonies that Britons established. The other benefits endowed by the Brits were courts, schools, libraries, churches, charities and hospitals. Sadly, resentment and grudges are more easily passed to the subsequent generations than gratitude. Obama’s hatred for the old British Empire of his father’s memories are greater than his appreciation for his own education and charmed life in the anglo-influenced US.
Ideological worlds apart from her.
I don’t the MF or his Holstein hipped wife at my funeral either. If he went to England he would be with the protestors anyhow.
I doubt they will even have the funeral on TV now. It will be Boston all week. God Bless Boston and Thatcher.
Bingo! My thoughts exactly...W should have gone..and in addition to all the obvious reasons why, there’s one more..his dad. GHWB is unable to travel. W should be there in his stead.
She would not have wanted that muzzie demon near her casket.
Real Americans loved Lady Thatcher... never doubt that.
