Pope stands firm on reforming "radical feminist" U.S. nuns

VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - Pope Francis has reaffirmed the Vatican's criticism of a body that represents U.S. nuns which the Church said was tainted by "radical" feminism, dashing hopes he might take a softer stand with the sisters. Francis's predecessor, Benedict, decreed that the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR), a group that represents more than 80 percent of the 57,000 Catholic nuns in the United States, must change its ways, a ruling which the Vatican said on Monday still applied. Last year, a Vatican report said the LCWR had "serious doctrinal problems" and promoted "radical feminist themes incompatible with the Catholic faith", criticizing it for taking a soft line on issues such as birth control and homosexuality.

Good, if they don’t like the Catholic church they need to get out and join a liberal church that suits them, I’m fed up with all these whiners demanding existing organization to change to suit them. If people don’t like a group like the Catholic Church or Boy Scouts they should start their own organization or STFU!

My annoying, bleeding heart cousin who recently left the Church to become an atheist because the Church was so mean about not tolerating homosexuality and abortion is going to hate this statement by the Pope. Heck she was happy he was elected because she thought he was going to change the Church and allow liberal policies to flourish! Boy is reality going to suck for her and the rest of the CINOS.

I cautioned a friend of mine from the Philippines not too read too much political importance into the new pope’s Jesuit background or his personal humble lifestyle and demeanor. I informed her of reports here in the WSJ that Bergolio was not exactly loved on the political left in Argentina and he was reviled by the Marxist Kirchner government there.

Whatever Bergolio’s background tells anyone I think it is evident mostly of his religious views and is not a good barometer of what political philosophy he might appreciate most.

I’ve been looking for a new faith for years. I was abandoned first by the Methodist Church and later by the Episcopal Church. Won’t even consider the Catholic Church because of the pass given to pedophile priests & leftist nuns.

It's analagous to the simpletons in this world who put a lot of faith in unscientific, highly unreliable exit polls which utilize suspect, at best, methodology.

There's quite a difference between those who are actually Catholic and those who falsely claim to be Catholic.

‘The problems with the Church run much deeper than a few broomstick pilots trying to make names for themselves.’

These problems of leftist voting are not the Church’s problems, they are its member’s problems and the problem is grave sin contracted by invincible ignorance of the teaching of the Church. Far too many so-called Catholics in the US vote with the DemocRATs due to family history or union affiliation. These people are DemocRATs first, their identity as Catholics is far from a priority in their lives.

“....contracted by invincible ignorance of the teaching of the Church.”

.
You’re misinformed.

I know of well informed Catholics working for the Church and a priest who voted for O.

Had a Benedictine nun working for us as a religious education director in my final tour in Germany. She was a wonder as a worker, a whirlwind of activity, and always willing to jump in and get things done.

But the feminist side had made inroads into her life, and she began bitterly denouncing all things politically conservative.

As I was preparing to rotate back to the US, she left her calling. She stayed with the Church, even though no longer a nun, but that liberal stuff just tore into her and left her an emotional shell.

It was sad. She was a nice lady.

Thank your liberal bleeding heart cousin and remind her that when she grows up, the Church is there to receive her back.

"Pedophile priests & leftist nuns should not be tolerated.
I really don't understand why they are. Both are evil, and should be purged."

I totally agree --- as does every Catholic, clergy and laity, that I can think of offhand (i.e. friends, family, parish) but two problems present themselves:

they should have been booting these people out long ago

That is my one complaint with the Church. They are far more tolerant and forgiving than I am.

Nope, I’m right. ‘By their fruit ye shall know them’. It is impossible for them to be ‘well informed’ and support intrinsic evil (and it purveyors and facilitators) as taught by the Church. Their ignorance is a direct result of plain old big P - PRIDE. The absolute root of all sin and evil.

FTR: I know of at least 2 priests and 1 nun who supported Obozo both times.

Bingo. The Vatican needs to buy them an island in the Caribbean and retire them asap.

Call it "Vatican Island" and build a reality television show out of it and it becomes a profit center.
