Pope stands firm on reforming "radical feminist" U.S. nuns

VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - Pope Francis has reaffirmed the Vatican's criticism of a body that represents U.S. nuns which the Church said was tainted by "radical" feminism, dashing hopes he might take a softer stand with the sisters. Francis's predecessor, Benedict, decreed that the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR), a group that represents more than 80 percent of the 57,000 Catholic nuns in the United States, must change its ways, a ruling which the Vatican said on Monday still applied. Last year, a Vatican report said the LCWR had "serious doctrinal problems" and promoted "radical feminist themes incompatible with the Catholic faith", criticizing it for taking a soft line on issues such as birth control and homosexuality.

I’m not Catholic, but I think they should have been booting these people out long ago. Pedophile priests & leftist nuns should not be tolerated.

Great news, they probably thought they might be able to skate with a new pope.

Though I’m not Catholic, it warms the cockles of my heart to read that the new Pope is not about to let a militant feminist group hijack one of the great religious branches of Christendom.

Good, if they don’t like the Catholic church they need to get out and join a liberal church that suits them, I’m fed up with all these whiners demanding existing organization to change to suit them. If people don’t like a group like the Catholic Church or Boy Scouts they should start their own organization or STFU!

It’s just possible that the press was fooled on this. The new Pope really does care for the poor, and that is not just a cover slogan for leftism. He really means it, and than God for that.

I really don't understand why they are. Both are evil, and should be purged

“They were praised by many fellow Catholics and the media for their work with the poor and sick.”

Is there any wonder that most of those “Catholics” belonged to George Soros funded organizations, that use the word Catholic to attack Catholics?

Good for him. If the “sisters” wanted to be so radical why don’t they become Episcopalians or Unitarians?

As a non-Roman, I really like seeing this leader do what popes should be doing.

Maybe he will also lay down the law to pro-abortion, pro-homo politicians...

I agree, I am not affiliated with a church but there is something different, which is interesting to watch.

Fixed it for ya.

Finding relief in the news that the Pope is still Catholic. He’s got a smile on his face.

It’s not just a militant feminist group that has hijacked the Church — how can you account for the fact that over 50% of Catholic voters pulled the lever for The Big O and 54% have no objection to same-sex “marriage”?

The problems with the Church run much deeper than a few broomstick pilots trying to make names for themselves.
