Sen. Marco Rubio, Florida Republican, said his plan would make illegal immigrants wait years to gain citizenship. Republican leaders are counting on Mr. Rubio to sell the plan to skeptical conservatives.
This is not amnesty. Amnesty is the forgiveness of something, Mr. Rubio said on Fox News Sunday. Were going to create an alternative that says, OK, you want to stay here, youll have to wait more than 10 years, youll have to pay this fine, youll have to pay your registration fee, youll have to be gainfully employed, you wont qualify for any federal benefits, and then after all of that you dont get to apply for anything until the enforcement mechanisms are in place. The immigration reform bill that senators are writing in secret would move U.S. policy to a points-based system that would reward immigrants who are taking care of disabled parents at the same level as those who have earned masters degrees in high-tech fields, according to a draft of the legislation reviewed by The Washington Times.
The eight senators writing the bill plan to announce provisions this week, ahead of a major hearing in the SenateJudiciary Committee on Wednesday, but some details already have been leaked. Among them is the points system to select immigrants.

youll have to pay this fine..they do not even say how much the fines are and what they are based on and I fully expect there to be waivers to get around this, youll have to pay your registration fee, and more waivers , will be granted, youll have to be gainfully employed, wishful thinking, you wont qualify for any federal benefits, sure they will, just start having kids and this will not pose any problems as free money will continue to come in and then after all of that you dont get to apply for anything until the enforcement mechanisms are in place.much like how they enforce immigration laws now........Once the present illegal population receives green cards, they will be eligible under current law for a wide array of federal welfare programs including food stamps, Supplemental Security Income, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, and Medicaid, the three senators wrote. By their very nature, these programs necessarily represent a net fiscal cost to taxpayers...And One of many problems with this is that as soon as they become legal they will want at least minimum wage and then employers will need a whole new crop of illegals. In other words, it will be just like the last time, a major fail.

They aren’t enforcing current immigration law. There is no reason to believe they’d enforce this one, except for the parts that help them get more Democrat voters.

What this teaches us is that if large numbers of people reject a law they will eventually cater to those people as a voting block.
No one should file this year.

Rub on four Sunday shows. He Says that illegals will have a tough road with his immigration ‘plan’.
Lots of hard work, paying lots and lots of taxes and a real long wait to get it. And he has Durbin and Schumer eating out of his hand. A true leader,
What could go wrong?

Not only waivers, but the issue of caring for disabled parents- many bring parents here for medical treatment- rarely paid for, another burden on taxpayers. Whatever the requirements are there will be a lot of document forgery- otherwise upstanding people will help them cheat the system. In the end amnesty will be given to many that do not qualify under the rules.
We have been there, done that before. During the last amnesty so-called salt of the earth upstanding people were signing affidavits left and right for illegals saying they had been here the required years or had been working the required time or currently employed by said people when it was absolutely false. The big factor was not even bribery though that happened as well- it was mostly good intentioned folks that had no clue what they were really doing. Many received amnesty last time when they barely crossed the border due to all the fraud.
Illegals know all of this, that is why ever since we did the last amnesty when our politicians speak out for amnesty illegals flood across the border. They know if they can get here before it happens there will likely be a way they can get qualified.

Unless Rubio is willing to engage in a land for immigration codicil with Mexico and Canada, he's not serious.
If we are to ever be required to take over the care and maintenance of Mexico's surplus population we need a substantial percentage of their beach front property, and other interesting properties!

The dirty little secret is they don’t want to be citizens. The just want legal status so they can get better jobs than cutting lawns or working for temp agencies. All this mumbo jumbo about paying taxes and fines and waiting is all BS. The legal status is what they want and it is instant-no waiting.

Make them ineligible to ever receive welfare benefits and not be able to vote until they reach the 25% tax bracket. You’ll see Dems drop immigration reform like a hot potato.

It may not be great and may be better than the Dem plan but it’s not good enough; not nearly good enough Mr. Rubio. You lie down with mangy curs like Schumer and Durbin, you get the same disease carrying fleas they have. You have a wide base. You are in imminent danger of seeing it evaporate.

What a liar, just as Rubio lied to get elected by denouncing the 1986 amnesty and 2007 plan which is nearly identical to HIS current plan.
The Gang of Eight "deal" legalizes illegals IMMEDIATELY. They are given protection from deportation plus work permits and social security numbers. Do not be fooled by the "path to citizenship" nonsense. Most illegals do not even want that. 3.5 million illegals were given amnesty in 1986...as of 2005 only 36% even applied to be citizens! They just want to stay here, work, and send 70% of what they earn back to their home countries. Meanwhile 57% of them collect at least one form of welfare, any children they have here are automatically CITIZENS (hence "anchor babies") and the entire family becomes eligible for SSI, food stamps and WIC. ALL OF THIS HAPPENS before any of thise "pay fines and taxes, learn English, obey the law, secure the border" nonsense. All lies. No ObamaCare? Then why did the Senate vote down Sessions' amendment to bar them from it. Of course they will get it, via Executive or Judicial fiat within months.
