School apology: ´Think like a Nazi´ task vs. Jews
Times Union ^ | 4/12/13 | Scott Waldman

Albany Think like a Nazi, the assignment required students. Argue why Jews are evil. Students in some Albany High School English classes were asked this week as part of a persuasive writing assignment to make an abhorrent argument: "You must argue that Jews are evil, and use solid rationale from government propaganda to convince me of your loyalty to the Third Reich!" Students were asked to watch and read Nazi propaganda, then pretend their teacher was a Nazi government official who needed to be convinced of their loyalty. In five paragraphs, they were required to prove that

Perhaps the teacher should march 40 miles to a "concentration camp" with little food or water and get the "feel" of the assignment.

Normally, I'd say that this is just a teacher who added 2 and 2 and got 3. Stupid, but harmless.

But in today's political climate, I'm not so sure.

Just imagine the MSM coverage of this story if it instead read “Think like a Klansman. Argue why blacks are inferior.”

Teacher won’t be fired, but if they had said the same about homosexuals, he/she would be.

The “public school” is the Bus Ministry of the State Church of Humanism.

The “public school”, including the “charter school”, is BY FAR, the largest, most expensive, most subversive, and most destructive entitlement program in the country.

The “public school” is better understood as the “government school collective”.

It is silly to imagine that you can fix the public schools, because the very concept itself is collectivist.

It is hypocritical to submit your children to an authority with whom you fundamentally disagree. Children do not trust hypocrites, so this will undermine your own authority, let alone influence, with your children.

Any child that comes out of the government school collective with their moral compass and common sense intact does so in spite of the government school indoctrination, not because of it.

To understand the content and compass of modern education, see ...
http://www.scribd.com/doc/54400125/Change-Agents-in-the-Schools-Barbara-Morris-1979

If you want to win the culture war, have lots of children (see my tagline) and homeschool them or form your own school cooperative with your church or synagogue and like-minded friends and relatives.

Nobody loves your children more than you do.

Nobody can teach your children better than you can.

Nobody knows your children better than you do.

Your children would love nothing better than to be taught by you, if you start doing so before they are corrupted by the government school collective.

If you have children, make whatever sacrifices you must to get them out of the public schools.

DO NOT FEED THE BEAST!

Especially not with your own children.

And DO NOT TAKE GOVERNMENT “EDUCATION” MONEY!

He that pays the piper calls the tune, and that’s especially true for any government entitlement program.

Government school. In preparation for this exercise, students were required to "pretend" that the sun rose yesterday morning.

But argue why conservatives are evil is OK.

Argue why Christians are evil is also OK.

Argue why Muslims are evil...oh wait...no spineless liberal teacher has anywhere near the guts to do that.

"I would apologize" but I'm not going to. What a pig.

"I would apologize to our families," she said. "I don't believe there was malice or intent to cause any insensitivities to our families of Jewish faith."

A simple apology isn’t nearly enough. Everyone connected with this needs to be fired and never allowed into a school again.

How many of these kids grand and great grandfathers died trying to rid the world of this kind of thinking?

Coming so shortly after the assignment to write Jesus on paper, think about it, place on floor, and stomp on it.

God bless the third who refused to go along with this evil. Shame on the 2/3s who did.

I can’t speak to how THIS lesson was done, but I could put together a very worthwhile one using the identical assignment. “This is how propaganda was done 80 years ago; now that you understand that, your next assignment is to find similar examples that are going on today.”

Ok, “teacher” what are the educational objectives of this assignment and why couldn’t you use a different example??

"Other ill-considered teacher assignments have made national news this year. In February, a Manhattan teacher caused an uproar after fourth-graders were given a math problem based on how many daily whippings a slave received.

In January, Georgia educators attempted to teach division to elementary school students by asking how many beatings per day former slave and abolitionist leader Frederick Douglass received."

Any similarity between these two assignments from two different states is purely coincidental. < /sarc>

In high school, I read a rather clunky translation of Mein Kampf and a rather less clunky translation of The Communist Manifesto. Ran out of time for Das Kapital.

The experience left me with zero tolerance for totalitarians, and with absolute contempt for 'useful idiots'.

Part 2 of the assignment: “Explain why we should learn to appreciate Hitler’s art in spite of his slaughter of 6 million Jews and tens of millions of other innocent civilians in Europe, Africa and Russia.”
