As Gun Grabs Loom, Citizens Left With Baseball Bat
Investor's Business Daily ^ | April 11, 2013 | IBD EDITORIALS

Bat Man: A Chicago store owner beats off two armed thugs with a baseball bat as Missouri illegally shares concealed carry records with feds and New York matches private health records with gun permits to take firearms.

President Obama, who campaigns for gun control between concerts at the White House and golf outings with Tiger Woods, once famously used the metaphor that in politics if they bring a knife to a fight, you bring a gun.

On Tuesday, in the gun-controlled murder capital of Chicago, the president's hometown, store owner Luis Quizhpe, an Ecuadorean immigrant, had no gun, but he brought his baseball bat to the fight when two armed thugs entered and tried to rob the neighborhood novelty store he's run for 28 years.

The dramatic robbery, caught on store surveillance, is perhaps the best argument ever seen for private ownership of firearms for self-defense and why we have a Second Amendment. The video shows one of the robbers holding a gun to Luis Quizhpe's brother-in-law, who was also inside Quizhpe's Gifts and Sports.

A struggle ensued in which Quizhpe can be seen grabbing a baseball bat and swinging as the robber fires continuous rounds at him at close range with one bullet piercing Quizhpe's leg, and his brother-in-law tossing chairs and a fire extinguisher at the fleeing goons.

We are told that things like universal background checks, to which the two thugs who entered Luis Quizhpe's store would have cheerfully submitted, will make us all safer.

We are told this by those who seek to disarm shopkeepers and private citizens everywhere on the grounds that it's the guns, not the goons, that threaten our safety.

How is this an editorial? There’s no original thoughts or ideas. No opinion....More rehashed news.

“If you take away the guns of the citizenry, they can no longer arrest criminals, but must kill them on the spot with whatever available means. This means that by taking away the guns of honest citizens, the government imposes the death penalty for even lesser violent felonies.

“By protecting armed criminals by disarming the citizenry, the government automatically sentences the armed criminals, or the honest citizens, likely many of both, to death.”

Use an Alley OOP club or a crossbow with Armor piercing forged tips on the shaft ends.

Now which part of "shall not be infringed" do New York, Missouri, Chicago and the Obama administration not understand?

This final sentence implies an opinion, does it not? Will you write to IBD to ask them to keep 'news' off of their opinion pages?

The Toomey-Manchin "Kill the Bill of Rights" Compromise.

- Clarifies that submissions of mental health records into the NICS system are not prohibited by federal privacy laws (HIPAA).

Ya know what? I retract my question. This is indeed a rare opinion from IBD. My apologies.

Great at close range, but back to the Crossbow for longer range targets.

If you support the spying and violations of your rights, go on vacation this summer. Spend lots of money on fuel, junk food and entertainment. Generate big revenues for big government.

But, like any well-trained Marine, I have one up the spout in my 1911. A ninth zombie would wind up eating my K-bar.

Well, it is like this meme from my old DOS days:

GOVT.SYS CORRUPTED, RUN GUN.COM? (Y/Y)
GUN.COM NOT FOUND, EXECUTE BASEBALL.BAT? (Y/Y)

B-)
