(Vanity) First They Just Wanted A Background Check (Toomey's True Colors)
4/11/2013 | Self

Posted on 04/11/2013 1:00:46 AM PDT by Nextrush

I had fallen out with Senator Pat Toomey in the last year when I realized his plan to balance the budget in ten years was no plan at all.

I consider a balanced budget to the be the top issue and that when a politician says they have a plan to do something in ten years, they are not serious.

Ted Kennedy and George W. Bush promised 100 percent proficiency in math and reading by 2014 when No Child Left Behind was made into law a decade or so ago.

Now, Senator Toomey has stepped into the waters of tearing down the Second Amendment by endorsing a "universal background check" for firearms purchases.

This is an incremental step that will lead to other incremental steps further down the road like gun registry, gun confiscation etc. etc.

Toomey can't call himself a defender of the Second Amendment with this announcement, I know that much.

He's caved to those forces that will ask him to cave some more when the next tragedy occurs.

This is just more proof of the simple truth that 90 percent plus of the Republicans we elect are not real conservatives.

Toomey doesn't have to face voters until 2016.

But Pennsylvanian may get a chance to confront him a week from tomorrow on Friday April 19th.

That's when Senator Toomey is scheduled to speak at 115 pm at the Pennsylvania Leadership Conference on the 19th.

This is the Pennsylvania version of CPAC being held at the Radisson Penn Harris Convention Center in Camp Hill. The location is across the river from Harrisburg.

Anger and hatred aren't needed. I pray that Senator Toomey would have in his life those things I would want in mine.

It is time for resolve and I certainly resolve not to support Toomey again. I resolve not to be sucked in by emotional discussions of Obama's spending and taxes when the Republicans refuse to stop spending and firmly balance the budget immediately.

I won't be emotionalized by any Karl Rove type wedge issues ginned up by Fox News and talk show hosts to get me into the RINO camp and support folks like Toomey.

I've realized that Toomey's Club For Growth was just the old liberal Rockefeller Republicans in a new cover. I was getting suspicious when a liberal billionaire in my area who supported Ed Rendell began fundraising for Toomey some years ago.

Toomey's refusal to balance the budget quickly along with this move and others only comfirms the reality that he is just another business as usual politician.

I will vote for conservative candidates in GOP primaries but I will not vote for RINO's in general elections.

There must be conservative candidates in primaries and conservatives ready to run third party if RINO's win GOP primaries.

I can deal with squishy politicians, but all insincere conservatives must go.

All 10 year plans are foolish, given that each year a new 10 year plan is introduced!

We're any of the 10 year plans serious, they'd stick to one for 10 years!

Arlen Toomey picked the wrong issue: Gun Control.

Try to attend the meeting and give him He//!

Of course. Making sure only law abiding citizens get weapons isn’t their goal. They say outright they want to stop the spread of dangerous weapons and that they want to “track” them, wherever they are. You can’t track sh!t if the transaction is an ethereal electronic okay that disappears into the miasma of government gobbleygook.

They get UBCs (I guess we now have a new acronymn) and the very next damned words out of their minds are “we need to track them.” They’ll concoct some other nicer sounding word for “register” but that’s what it will be.

God help us if they get the House back in 2014, because all this will become dictatorial law. And, then we will have to see just what the gun owners are going to do about it.

The only difference between our new masters and the old soviets? 10 year plans vs. five year plans. LOL. They are too stupid to see it!

Toomey is scum, and worse than a communist/islamist.

It is the fifth column that is the most fatal one.

Politics is broken. The entire government is filled with criminals who act with impunity.

Tend to your own affairs.

Eventually, the “fall out” at the next election will take the toll of those politicians who have gone against the people’s wishes. Certainly there are great numbers on both side of the issue that will either support or reject what the POLS have done.

I hope and pray that those of us who are AGAINST all the hype for more and unnecessary gun control will out number those who are for it.

Talk with everyone you know who CAN and WILL vote. Dump all the bastards NO MATTER which side of the aisle they sit on IF they are for all this hyped “gun control”.

I hate that the .gov is sticking their nose in our business (Oh my, I think I just wrote an oxymoric sentence!) but...

Here in Michigan, we’ve had background checks since...well, a long time. Our best move was becoming a “shall issue” state, instead of a “who do you know in the PD” state.

That being said, the background check consists of our names and numbers being run thru LEIN (law enforcement information network), the state PD database, and any local gov (sheriff). All they are looking for are felonies and certain misdemeanors. They are only looking for criminal activity. If you’re not a bad guy, no big deal. So, I don’t have a problem with the background checks.

I do (or will) have a problem with magazine sizes. I have a problem with the gov telling me that it will only take me 7 or 8 bullets to stop the bad guy. Sure, I’m good at the range, but that’s not the high-stress shooting that defensive shooting is.

Oh, and I’m sure that all the bad guys will continue to buy their guns legally, and undergo the same check system you and I do, right? /sarc

Haha, did someone just mention California?

Now, now....don’t get your panties in a wad. Toomey is doing exactly what Republicans do......killing our freedoms one drop at a time. A death by a thousand cuts so to speak.

It seems (with the exception of not more than 10 republicans) that there is no difference at all between the Democrats/communists/Marxist/socialist/fascist factions and the Republicans.

There’s not a true patriot among them. They only want to increase their individual wealth and power...not to do what they were sworn in to do...protect the Constitution.

Our society has gone too far to the left to return and our society has completely erased the word “responsibility” from our vocabulary.

I had fallen out with Senator Pat Toomey in the last year when I realized his plan to balance the budget in ten years was no plan at all.

Anybody who can do simple arithmetic could do that in an afternoon. It probably wouldn't even take half an eraser on the other end of a number 2 pencil.

“If you’re not a bad guy...” You see, that is where things begin to fall apart, for Pat Toomey has joined with the enemies of freedom and proposed that “bad” now encompasses 1.) Any mental condition “they” deem sufficient to keep you from owning arms, 2.) Being able to access the medical records of any person wishing to make an arms purchase to “check” for such conditions, and 3.) Essential ceding of the metrics by which one can obtain weapons legally to a group of unknown Government Bureaucrats, all in the name of “safety.”

Do not be fooled by their statements, for they are liars.

Is that true? I mean really, the part about being able to access our medical records? Oh, shit, I already know they do that, my doc says “the prez thinks you should have an annual, and he wants to know if you scheduled your mammogram yet, and did you quit smoking yet?” I hate lying to my doc...’bout as much as I hate those tragic boating accidents where all my toys get lost in the bay.
