North Korea Prepares to Launch Missile (Fuel Loaded, Weapon on the Pad: Upgrade to Watchcon 2)
ABC News Nightline ^ | 1 hour ago | Bob Woodruff

Posted on 04/10/2013 7:13:05 PM PDT by drewh

Tonight there's urgent new evidence that north korea is ready to launch a missile at any hour, any moment, a show of force, a defiant test of world reaction. ABC news has been told that the fuel has been loaded. The missile is on the pad.

And our bob woodruff is in south korea to bring us more details right now. Reporter: The top u. S.

Defense official responded to kim jong-un'sising rhetoric today. North korea's actions have been skating very close to a dangerous line. Reporter: There is some anxiety growing on the streets and in the subways of seoul amid south korean news reports than emergency threat levels jumped to watchcon-2, which is one step away from war.

Even as koreans went about their daily routines, young koreans have lived through endless propaganda and missile tests for decades. Now even they are starting to wonder about kim jong-un. He is very crazy.

Reporter: He's crazy? Parents are getting nervous. Sae jung kim told me for the first time in this conflict tomorrow, she will not take her son to kindergarten.

Any strike, anywhere else, i want my kids to be with me. Reporter: Even if that happens, that missile would be mid range called muse dan. Never before tested.

Powerful enough to travel 2,000 miles putting us bases in okinawa or guam within its reach. Moving patriots missiles into position around tokyo.

The danger here is kim jong-un has ramped up the tension to such a point that even the smallest action could provoke a larger fight, a war or significant military clash. Reporter: As for timing, most believe this launch will happen sometime this week because next monday is kim jong-un's grandfather's birthday. On that day, most of these launches have happened in the morning

Has anyone laid the blame at Clinton and Carter in the last few weeks for this f’ing mess??

No. And no one has blamed either GHW or GW Bush either. Both caved to the Nork's greenmail. Just making a statement about RINOs.

Best thing to do is bring our troops home from Korea and cut off all aid to Seoul. /s

They have the largest military organization on the planet at 9.5 million active, reserve and paramilitary personal. Their standing army is over a million strong. Over 4,000 tanks, 3,000 APCs, 18,000 artillery pieces, nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons. 18,000 aircraft in their air force. Heck they even use laser blinding weapons that are outlawed. etc, etc...

South Korea might have better equipment but in almost every regard they are outnumbered greatly. Seoul will fall quickly. Do you really think this commander and chief has the balls to fight back?

So I was listening to Geraldo this week on a radio station in Deep-Blue territory. He was saying that, in the past, the Soviets knew that a full-up nuke exchange meant the end of the world...more or less, and so the Soviets (and the US) did was was needed to avoid that nightmare.

He then extended that to ‘lil Kim, and said that ‘lil thinks the same as the Soviets and therefore we have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO FEAR FROM HIM - he knows if he hits us, we will clobber him. So no need for missile defense.

He then talked about how much money we’re going to be saving by leaving Iraq and Afghanistan...and how TERRIBLE it would be squander those savings on new, expensive, military programs (like missile defense). He then said that the defense contractors are SALIVATING at the thought of all of these new programs starting up and implied (or said, don’t remember) how much he HATES our defense companies.

In other words, he has more fear and hatred of our defense contractors making money than he does of North Korea taking out US cities.

He likely speaks for most Democrat leaders. It is incredibly difficult for conservatives to understand just how much they HATE the military and large defense programs...but they showed the same thing through most of the Cold War...at least starting at Vietnam. There is no other conclusion...they wanted us to LOSE the Cold War, as they simply would not support ANYTHING that could have helped us win - luckily Reagan was able to hold them back, but it was not easy, and it meant that he had to let the rest of their agenda continue to progress (i.e., more welfare, more spending on “education”, housing, etc.).

Considering all of that, there is only ONE THING that could convince Geraldo, and thus most other Democrat leaders, that we live in a dangerous world: And that would be deaths of HUGE NUMBERS OF AMERICANS. I have friends on the West Coast...but it looks like the Dems are giving the NK’s no choice but to strike, so I just hope that they strike a Blue City (or state). They voted for this, and they can deal with the consequences.

I was referring the the reactors that were negotiated through the IAEA with former president Carter during Clinton’s reign.

After looking at the chronology of it all it I see your point.

Who is North Koreas ally besides China? Look at the big picture. If North Korea launches and we don’t do anything about it, what is Europe going to do without a missile defense and these missiles in Irans hands?

There is a big picture here. The Norks know we are not going to war with them. And Obama knows that this pivot takes everyone’s mind off the budget the, the weapons ban, illegal immigration and he gets to blame the Republicans for not protecting the country due to the sequester.

My post about the strength of their army brings up another point, “Can America really fight a great war?” The liberals have weaken the mindset of our youth and decimated the military. I serious doubt we can fight a Korean scale war especially with our current president at the helm.

Everything shifted to house-to-house fighting and drones. The number of Americans with backbone is sadly depleted. Heck, a small child making a gun shape with his/her hands gets suspended and force counseling. No one fights for their principles, what happens if this thing goes south.
