Can Latino evangelicals help Republicans take a bite out of the Democratic advantage with Hispanic voters? Maybe. As my cover story The Latino Reformation this week suggests, Latino evangelicals are a group that has strong conservative social valuesmeaning the Republican Party should find them very attractive. They prize the nuclear family. They are largely against abortion and gay marriage. They also tend to be wealthier than Latino Catholics, and they are more likely to have been born in the United States.

They were there, and they were not silent.
Jesus Christ is reviving his people to stand for Him--loving the sinner but hating the sin. And He seems to be doing it in the willing hearts of the Latino population.
If you are a brother or sister in Christ, pray for these fellow followers.
Sure, there will be some hispanics that side with us, but it is a minority, not a majority. When amnesty comes down, the Dems are the big winners, not us. “Evangelicos” are not going to save us.
RE: Evangelicos: A Way Back for the GOP
Did they poll Hispanic votes based on religious background?
I know that 78% of Evangelicals went for Romney in 2012.
I also know that 71% of Latinos went Obama in 2012.
Question -— Who are the 22% Evangelicals who went for Obama?
I bet a significant number are Latinos and Blacks.
Today's Republican Party should. But it won't. Its leaders are too busy throwing social conservatives under the bus.
Very encouraging, but the GOP doesn’t deserve the Hispanic evangelicals or any other evangelical. The GOP has sold us down the river too many times. Recently telling us that the next GOP nominee may likely support homosexual “marriage”. Phoey, let the fiscal conservatives do all the heavy lifting from now on. Time to get off that train.
But is the article saying evangelical Hispanics have all these conservative values, are more affluent than Catholic Hispanics, and were likely born in the USA, but that they now vote for Democrats?
Or are they among the 30% or so who vote Republican?
“Latino evangelicals are a group that has strong conservative social valuesmeaning the Republican Party should find them very attractive”
Of course, the Republican Party would have to find those values attractive first.
“Sure, there will be some hispanics that side with us, but it is a minority, not a majority. When amnesty comes down, the Dems are the big winners, not us. Evangelicos are not going to save us”
Correct. The “natural conservatives” overwhelmingly support the welfare state and want big government by huge margins.
The article posted just after this one debunks any notion that evangelical hispanics vote overwhelmingly more for GOP than they do Democrat. In fact....any and all Hispanics vote overwhelmingly Democrat regardless of their religious belief
Illegal Alien Amnesty won’t win GOP Hispanic voters
I don't know the numbers on Evangelicals but we do know the numbers on the larger category of Protestant.
The Hispanics who are Protestant voted 44% Republican in 2000, and 56% Republican in 2004, and 48% Republican in 2008, so it is clear that Hispanics who are Protestant Christians, are in play.
