Bipartisan deal reached on gun background checks
Washington Post ^ | 04/10/2013 | Ed O'Keefe

A bipartisan group of senators has struck a deal to expand gun background checks to all commercial sales — whether at gun shows, via the Internet or in any circumstance involving paid advertising, according to Senate aides familiar with the talks.

The proposed agreement would be more stringent than current law, which requires checks only when purchases are made through a licensed dealer, but less than originally sought by President Obama and congressional Democrats, who were seeking to expand background checks to nearly every kind of sale.

The agreement should secure enough bipartisan support for the Senate to proceed to debate on an overarching bill that would expand background checks, make gun trafficking a federal crime for the first time and bolster federal funding for school security plans. Senate Democratic leaders have said they will permit senators of both parties to introduce amendments to the measure.

The deal on background checks was struck by Sens. Joe Manchin III (D-W. Va.), Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.), Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) and Patrick Toomey (R-Pa.), who will introduce the proposal as an amendment to the current gun bill under consideration in the Senate, aides said.

The word “bipartisan” means that some larger-than-usual deception is being carried out.

COMPLETE AND UTTER BULLSH|T.

If you buy a gun on the Internet, it has to go through the NICS check. If you buy a gun at a gun show from an FFL, it has to go through a NICS check.

I believe this whole thing is a ruse to get through a law that says all "transfers"--not sales--have to go through a licensed dealer. Therefore, I cannot lend my buddy or nephew or uncle a gun.

REJECT THIS!

“Bipartisan deal reached” means America loses more of their liberty.

“The House says: No.......”

Do you have any links to support that? My understanding is that Boehner already caved also.

I feel confident that both of my backstabbing RINO sonofabitch Senators are going to screw me and any other freedom loving Georgian in the back.

Since Saxby his finally shown his true color and won’t run (I’ll not vote for another GOB appeaser for that spot), and good ole Isakson is up in 4 years for re-election, I’ll try to stay alive until then and vote against them or their chosen successors.

They KNOW this. ALL of them KNOW this. They aren’t about the truth. They are about getting a foothold law establishing a universal (of sorts) background check law nationally. You will then see, maybe before 2014, a hell-bent-for-leather push to translate that act into a NATIONAL REGISTRY, which is what they are really after. It is so because that registry is the foundation for an effective confiscation of guns from all Americans opposing Obama and the Democrats.

this is junk because ALL online sales have to go to an ffl FIRST then to you.

If we do an online check then there should be no middle ffl.

This is just to track via internet capture, ala illegal warrentless searches and credit checks for any transactions.

sort of the way the feds capture all email and internet communications.

I thought maybe I’d be so fortunate as to pass away before America became completely communist or tyrannical, a nation without law .... (or with “laws” and pigs in charge like in Animal Farm)

(Alas, it was not to be...)

We need to VOTE THESE anti-American Senators OUT OF OFFICE (if there are still elections next time)... I am going to make a list of all their names and send political campaign contributions to their opponents (of either party)...
