REID: GUN DEAL DEADLINE 5PM
POLITICO ^ | JOHN BRESNAHAN, REID J. EPSTEIN and ANNA PALMER

Posted on 04/09/2013 11:23:19 AM PDT by JohnPDuncan

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has given Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) until 5 p.m. Tuesday to reach a background checks deal with Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.), according to several sources close to the issue.

If there’s no agreement by that deadline, Reid will move to start debate over a gun-control package that is a wish list for gun-control advocates. But Republicans have already threatened to filibuster the bill, and it is unlikely to pass in its current form. If there is no deal and a filibuster is surmounted, votes could start as early as Thursday.

So much for reading the bill. I guess curb stomping the Constitution is far to important for the "World's Greatest Deliberative Body" to actually debate it.

This deal between Manchin and Toomey is already DOA. The Manchin bill would only apply to retail dealers and not individual transaction. It would not get any democrat support.

I wish I could give Harry Reid a 5 PM deadline to get out of town.

How can its "form" be anything other than its current form, given that "The Gang" of usurpers won't allow any amendments?

Gun-grabbers don’t know what they really want, so nothing will satisfy them. Mandatory background checks at gun shows would be the most I would offer them, since that’s already the case at most gun shows already, even if the antis don’t know it.

I just wrote to Toomey. Told him I contributed to have him defeat Sphincter, but if he helps the Democrats get any gun control passed I will be contributing to his primary opponent.

Then they'll just change the definition of "gun show."

It's what they do.

I faxed my Senator Dean Heller of Nevada, this morning, immediately after hearing he woul not take part in the filibuster.

“Grow some balls and join the filibuster” in large handwriting was all it said.

I hope NK will not attack the US, but there has never been a time in history when a nuke on DC would do less damage than today. I just see the problem as the morons and parasites who vote for socialism, not the particular communists and socialists sent to rule over us.

Just emailed Mark Proyr for the 2nd time. (can’t call from work) I told him that before he votes on guns or illegals he may want to asked Blanche Linclon how the health care vote worked out for her.

That’s the problem. Like I said, they don’t know what they really want, they just know they’re scared of guns. Half-wit leftie Martin Schramm wrote a column yesterday about how great the Australian gun confiscation was and how much it lowered the Aussie crime rate. The idiot didn’t know or care that the crime rate here went down just as much with no new controls.

Reid is a two faced dirtball. Comes across as a loving, mild mannered and quiet spoken old guy and he’s the furthest from that come across.

Manchin Ran as a gun rights conservative-—looks like his number has been called and now it’s time for him to put up or shutthebleep up.
