So, per various reporting, we now have 6 GOP senators on record against a gun filibuster: Heller, McCain, Ayotte, Graham, Isakson, Coburn— Mike O'Brien (@mpoindc) April 9, 2013

perhaps somebody can provide this senator with a copy of the constitution he swore to uphold?

the only thing he needs to do is introduce a bill to eliminate all of the existing unconstitutional infringements

Yeah, I hammered him the other night to get on board and support us and put an end to this travesty. Need more NV FReepers to give him a nudge. He barely squeaked in to office over shelley berzerkley and needs to be reminded of that.

That argument might have some slight bit of merit if the Dems hadn't already promised that they were planning to cram through the bill with little or not debate. The filibuster is the only way to get any discussion of the bill and its demerits on the floor.

Correct me if I’m wrong - but doesn’t a filibuster actually continue the debate? Stopping the filibuster means closing debate and calling for the vote, does it not?

Have your stinking debate, you weasels! Just have it without closing the debate to everyone else. “We need to have this debate” is practiced Prog-speak for “let’s vote on it, impose OUR will on the people, and let the people debate it (unarmed)”.

Numb nuts, if you don't filibuster there will be no discussion. If you filibuster you get to discuss you point of view (assuming you are not a secret gun grabber).

The dirty little secret is these RINO’s really want gun control, however they are too cowardly to come out and say so or vote for the bill because they know it’s political suicide, so they they play this little game about the bill deserving an “up or down vote” which translates to only needing 50 votes as opposed to 60. So the bill gets past with only democrat votes, and they can still keep their hands clean and claim they didn’t vote for it.

The freaks and anti-American media have begun calling Republicans “obstructionists” again, and the Republicans who don’t like to be called not nice names will capitulate to the leftist script.

Like reporting “homophobic slurs” without any supporting quotes, and all the rush to shove “gay marriage” down our throats.

"the discussion needs to be had."

Maybe, but at bare minimum, a prolonged debate would focus the country's attention on just how anti-second amendment the RAT party is.

Plus, it would keep them, at least temporarily, from moving on further to mischief like amnesty for illegal aliens.

Mr. Heller, you do not have the authority to discuss or modify my God given rights in any way.

If enough of these RINOs sell out and this thing goes on to pass in the Senate. What’s the chances of this thing getting passed in the House?

Answer: JOHN BOEHNER.

We MUST have another political party. Only another conservative political party with a lot of pull in the COngress and locally will either drive these scumbags back to the right or put them out of business for good.

Of course, filibusters extend debate NOT stop it nor do they STOP votes!

When dims/RINOs use the "cloture (meaning you must have 60 yeas to stop debate)" and call for vote, it's called "cloture" not "filibuster" thereby claiming that only the "GOP prevents voting."

Think of what we would NOT have if "cloture" were not reached as in accepting Kerry, Hagel, when RINOs and others like Rand Paul, claimed they didn't want to stop the vote, just filibuster yet went on to vote FOR him!

What hypocrites!

"the discussion needs to be had."

We had a 'discussion' with Great Britain about this subject a couple hundred years ago, moron.

The American side of the 'discussion' is now enshrined in the 2nd Amendment to the US Constitution.
