Classless Coulter Gets Her Facts Wrong
Conservatives4Palin ^ | April 08 2013 | Stacy Drake

It’s disturbing that Ann Coulter is so desperate for attention that she would stoop this low on the day Margaret Thatcher died. Just like Politco (as Steve pointed out in another post) Coulter used Thatcher’s passing as an opportunity to take part in some trashy PDS. During an interview with Geraldo Rivera, Coulter starting punching up and didn’t stop until she made a complete fool of herself.

Transcript, courtesy of Real Clear Politics:

COULTER: One thing that I know, because I know people who know her, is when Sarah Palin first burst on the scene, the political scene, she wanted to have a meeting with Palin, because she saw raw political talent, but wanted to teach Sarah Palin to do what she did.

COULTER: To teach her to speak proper English. Palin did not meet with her, and just a year or two ago, when Sarah Palin was promoting some reality show or something, she went to England. And she announced to the press that she was planning on dropping by to see Lady Thatcher, and Lady Thatcher put out the word that she was not available.

COULTER: What, I think, a lot of us saw, that Sarah Palin did have raw political talent. And if she had been willing to put her nose to the grindstone and pursue improving herself, speaking proper English, reading stuff, knowing lots of things, she could have been great. She’s a fine person, but that isn’t what she’s pursuing.

First of all, what business does Ann Coulter have demeaning a highly accomplished former executive like Governor Palin? What has Ann ever done to place herself on such a pedestal? Any noteworthy accomplishments, Ann, besides trashing good conservatives and promoting squishy moderates? At least for the past couple of years anyway, because we all know Coulter used to act and talk much differently than she does today.

Second, I realize Governor Palin does not use the same pretentious snob accent Coulter does, but Governor Palin speaks proper English. Does she use slang from time to time? Sure, and there is nothing wrong with that. It’s called being human and having a sense of humor. Two things I guess Coulter is having trouble identifying with these days.

Third, if Ann Coulter knew anything about Governor Palin, she wouldn’t make those comments about “reading stuff, knowing lots of things…” etc. Perhaps Ann should read some of the “stuff” Governor Palin has written, or maybe take some time to watch some of her speeches. Coulter would certainly learn some “things” about the Governor she clearly doesn’t already know, and considering what business she’s in, she should. Nothing worse than an uninformed opinion writer.

Last but not least, Coulter repeats a debunked story by the left-wing Guardian from 2011. Margaret Thatcher never “put out the word that she was not available” to meet with Governor Palin. As former Thatcher aide, Niles Gardiner wrote (emphasis):

I have spoken to Lady Thatcher’s Private Office regarding the story, and they confirm that the attack on Sarah Palin definitely did not come from her office, and in no way reflects her views. As a former aide to Margaret Thatcher myself, I can attest that this kind of thinking is entirely alien to her, and that such remarks would never be made by her office. She has always warmly welcomed like-minded figures in the United States, and has in the past met with numerous US presidential candidates and political dignitaries when they have visited London. But at the age of 85 she is now able to receive very few visitors at all.

There was never any snub of Sarah Palin by Lady Thatcher’s office. However, there has been a great deal of mischief-making and unpleasantness from sections of the liberal press in a vain and futile attempt to use Margaret Thatcher’s name to smear a major US politician.

Add Coulter to this mix of mischief-makers.

Jim Hoft also reported the Thatcher Foundation’s response when asked by one of his readers if the story was true:

The Guardian, of course, is not a newspaper at all sympathetic to Lady Thatcher (or to Mrs. Palin), so reports on this topic, from that source, have minimal credibility. If nothing else, would Lady Thatcher have ever described a prominent US conservative politician as ‘nuts’, or approved an ‘ally’ who used the description? I would hope that question answers itself.

Of course, sadly, Lady Thatcher’s health is not good these days and such considerations naturally dominate her schedule. That much is true. Someone once said that if you plaster together the true and the false you thereby manufacture the plausible, but in this case I don’t think even that much has been achieved by the Guardian.

So there you have it. Ann Coulter used the day the world lost Iron Lady Thatcher to trash Governor Palin with rehashed, debunked lies and insults to play to the ignorant. Bravo, Ann! You, like Politico, have reached a new low.

I agree with your thinking about the coming 2016 presidential race, and hope with every fiber of my being that Gov. Palin answers the call of duty this time.

I disagree with Coulter on some things. But she is very right about the amnesty treaty that Rubio is tarring his reputation with. That bill needs to be killed or the republic dies.

Rush played some audio tapes of the Attorney General talking to a Mexican amnesty crowd. The attorney general basically told these people that every person on the planet had the right to be an american citizen.

Sarah will have to put a lot of distance between herself and McCain on this one if she wants to get elected.

Who could best totally bring out the republican/conservative base FIRST and then pull in some moderates.

Hold it CK... you realize we just had an election and virtually ALL conservative candidates were REJECTED and in some cases harangued to the political “lake of fire”?...

Unless even the republican primary elections were adjusted by democrat voter fraud...
NOW; wouldn’t THAT be a pisser?...

Wouldn’t bother republicans though.
HELL they don’t even care about democrat voter fraud in general elections..

Kind of makes you go “Hmmmmm” when you consider republicans selected the inventor of Romney-care to run against the inventor of Obama-care..

UNLESS; “they didn’t”...

I’m not sure that I disagree with you.

However, you missed the symmetry I was trying to point out. The dems twice went to the center left guy in 2000 and 2004. And the pubbies twice went to the center right guy in 2008 and 2012. All four times the centrists lost.

So yeah you’re right to ask whether the same pubbies who voted in Romney for their nominee in 2012 would vote for someone to his right in 2016.

I’m saying yeah, this could happen if the dems are any example. After seeing the center left candidates Al Gore and John Kerry lose to Bush, the next obvious center left candidate was Hillary. She lost to the far left candidate Obama in 2008.

Would the pubbies do the same thing. Will they vote for someone who is on the far right in 2016? Just as the dems voted for someone on the far left in 2008? I don’t know. Maybe. maybe not. But the psychology of being the party out of the white house for eight years will be the same for the pubbies in 2016, as it was for the dems in 2008.

FAR right???.. who, where, why, ....
There is NO far right.. if there is a “right” at all..
If I could find ANYthing far right I would join it.. I cannot..

Closest thing I know thats anything close to “right” is free republic..
And we have many Bushbots and Romneyacs here... and a few McCaineoids..

When the Fiat Money finally gives up the ghost
Many will wiping their Asks with it..

Then the big and not so big cites will ERUPT..
Which is exactly what the democrats are hoping (and planning) for..
It will be some version of Mad MAx...

No chance the fiat money will make things go bad.

Not with the USA producing nearly 1 million gallons a day more each year for the last three years and for the next 7 years or so.

Energy independence means the USA does not export half a trillion dollars annually.

The dollar becomes a hard currency again. You absolutely can’t underestimate the consequences of oil independence.

I like Palin. I think she received extraordinarily unfair treatment in 2008, and since.

But my nearly reflexive urge to defend her is based more on the despicable people who attack her rather than strong support for her. I just don’t see her as capable of winning the Presidency. I think she’d get beat worse than McCain did. You mention moderates; it’s with those voters that I doubt she can do well enough. I think the Left’s demonization of Palin has been and would be effective with moderates.

I really don’t know who is out there that could unite conservatives and independents in large enough numbers to defeat the Democrats growing, immigration-driven demographic edge.

What is this perfection template elites demand: ivy schools, accepted speech patterns, appropriate dress and grooming etc. Our side needs all conservative voices in whatever package they come in and the more and different, the better.

Palin resonates with people. She has a non pretentious sincere approachable style that Democrats envy and fear.

Bulls-eye.

She and Coulter are essentially in the same business, which is self-promotion for the purpose of generating income.

More power to ‘em both. But you don’t get elected to anything that way.

we will never see another republican president in our lifetime.

If obamaCare was not enough of a reason to vote Romney.

The traitors who didn't vote Romney have taken are country over the cliff.

Dream all you want to, in a few years Obama will will look tame. The numbers are not there for the future.

Obamacare is dead in the water. It will be declared unconstitutional or it will be repealed.

Romney barely got more votes than McCain.

Neither Romney or McCain turned out the base even as much as Bush 43.
