Classless Coulter Gets Her Facts Wrong
Conservatives4Palin ^ | April 08 2013 | Stacy Drake

It’s disturbing that Ann Coulter is so desperate for attention that she would stoop this low on the day Margaret Thatcher died. Just like Politco (as Steve pointed out in another post) Coulter used Thatcher’s passing as an opportunity to take part in some trashy PDS. During an interview with Geraldo Rivera, Coulter starting punching up and didn’t stop until she made a complete fool of herself.

Transcript, courtesy of Real Clear Politics:

COULTER: One thing that I know, because I know people who know her, is when Sarah Palin first burst on the scene, the political scene, she wanted to have a meeting with Palin, because she saw raw political talent, but wanted to teach Sarah Palin to do what she did.

COULTER: To teach her to speak proper English. Palin did not meet with her, and just a year or two ago, when Sarah Palin was promoting some reality show or something, she went to England. And she announced to the press that she was planning on dropping by to see Lady Thatcher, and Lady Thatcher put out the word that she was not available.

COULTER: What, I think, a lot of us saw, that Sarah Palin did have raw political talent. And if she had been willing to put her nose to the grindstone and pursue improving herself, speaking proper English, reading stuff, knowing lots of things, she could have been great. She’s a fine person, but that isn’t what she’s pursuing.

First of all, what business does Ann Coulter have demeaning a highly accomplished former executive like Governor Palin? What has Ann ever done to place herself on such a pedestal? Any noteworthy accomplishments, Ann, besides trashing good conservatives and promoting squishy moderates? At least for the past couple of years anyway, because we all know Coulter used to act and talk much differently than she does today.

Second, I realize Governor Palin does not use the same pretentious snob accent Coulter does, but Governor Palin speaks proper English. Does she use slang from time to time? Sure, and there is nothing wrong with that. It’s called being human and having a sense of humor. Two things I guess Coulter is having trouble identifying with these days.

Third, if Ann Coulter knew anything about Governor Palin, she wouldn’t make those comments about “reading stuff, knowing lots of things…” etc. Perhaps Ann should read some of the “stuff” Governor Palin has written, or maybe take some time to watch some of her speeches. Coulter would certainly learn some “things” about the Governor she clearly doesn’t already know, and considering what business she’s in, she should. Nothing worse than an uninformed opinion writer.

Last but not least, Coulter repeats a debunked story by the left-wing Guardian from 2011. Margaret Thatcher never “put out the word that she was not available” to meet with Governor Palin. As former Thatcher aide, Niles Gardiner wrote (emphasis):

I have spoken to Lady Thatcher’s Private Office regarding the story, and they confirm that the attack on Sarah Palin definitely did not come from her office, and in no way reflects her views. As a former aide to Margaret Thatcher myself, I can attest that this kind of thinking is entirely alien to her, and that such remarks would never be made by her office. She has always warmly welcomed like-minded figures in the United States, and has in the past met with numerous US presidential candidates and political dignitaries when they have visited London. But at the age of 85 she is now able to receive very few visitors at all.

There was never any snub of Sarah Palin by Lady Thatcher’s office. However, there has been a great deal of mischief-making and unpleasantness from sections of the liberal press in a vain and futile attempt to use Margaret Thatcher’s name to smear a major US politician.

Add Coulter to this mix of mischief-makers.

Jim Hoft also reported the Thatcher Foundation’s response when asked by one of his readers if the story was true:

The Guardian, of course, is not a newspaper at all sympathetic to Lady Thatcher (or to Mrs. Palin), so reports on this topic, from that source, have minimal credibility. If nothing else, would Lady Thatcher have ever described a prominent US conservative politician as ‘nuts’, or approved an ‘ally’ who used the description? I would hope that question answers itself.

Of course, sadly, Lady Thatcher’s health is not good these days and such considerations naturally dominate her schedule. That much is true. Someone once said that if you plaster together the true and the false you thereby manufacture the plausible, but in this case I don’t think even that much has been achieved by the Guardian.

So there you have it. Ann Coulter used the day the world lost Iron Lady Thatcher to trash Governor Palin with rehashed, debunked lies and insults to play to the ignorant. Bravo, Ann! You, like Politico, have reached a new low.

McCain may have broken or snitched to the NVA. Not the VC. The VC were in South Vietnam and not in Hanoi. Your facts are off.

Your excuses for your personal attack would not hold up in court. Be very careful about attacking a person’s character on the Internet as some will sue.

Oh puhleeeze..... No one attacked you.

If you can't handle a bit of sarcasm or criticism, you need to stay away from internet discussion forums. This isn't a place for children or the faint of heart.

Thank-you for graciously defending our Iron Lady, the greatest prime minister of my lifetime. (Compared to our current “Conservative” prime minister who falls somewhere to the left of Romney). Yes, Baroness Thatcher’s health was extremely fragile and declining when Gov. Palin visited the U.K. The Baroness was entertaining few visitors around this time.

Nor would I be harsh with Gov. Palin for not knowing this when she requested a meeting. One must keep in mind that the Baroness had been scheduled to attend and participate at a number of major public events around the same time, such as Prince William’s royal wedding, her own 85th birthday party, and the unveiling of a statue of her close friend President Reagan at the U.S. embassy in London. She subsequently excused herself from these public engagements at the last moment when her health further declined.

As a Thatcher Conservative I always recognized a true friend in Reagan Republicans when visiting or living in the United States. Governor Palin is true friend. Had the Baroness been in better health, I have no doubt it would have warmed her heart to host Governor Palin.

Takes conservative fans to buy her books and she is losing them in large numbers since before the election.

What the heck is Ann thinking?

She is not smart. Read her BIO.

The rantings of a true leftist. I have read her BIO. If you would bother to read it, you would not be spewing lies and denigrating her.

She is extremely intelligent and very accomplished.

You truly have hatred in your heart for her. It's sad to see such bitterness and obsessive PDS. You need some serious therapy. LOL It's always makes me laugh to see the deranged PDSers show their true leftist colors.

P.S. What is your screen name at the DUmp? Have a nice day :)

You have been here since 2007. Wow. Palin is not my kind of candidate. I could not believe how ignorant she sounded on TV. Hell, she fell prey to Couric. Sad.

Agree, that Coulter got it right on immigration. If the gang of 8 is not stopped cold, the republic does not have much of a future.

The democrats who will run in 2016 are definitely Andrew Cuomo and Hillary Clinton and maybe Joe Biden. I would love for Joe Biden to win the democrat nomination but the likely winner would be Hillary.

The best arrow in the pubbie quiver to take out Hillary is guess who?

Think about it!

Who among the the pubbies could best tag Hillary!

Who could best totally bring out the republican/conservative base FIRST and then pull in some moderates.

Lets put it this way. The democrats put up two loser center left candidates in 2000 and 2004. The republicans put up two loser center right candidates in 2008 and 2012. The democrats won in 2008 and 2012 with a hard left candidate.

Is Hillary to the left of Obama? I think not. She was once a hard leftist. Now she’s a center leftist. She will not bring out the kind of passion that Obama did from the dem base.

Hillary can be taken out by a passionate conservative but not a center right spew.

Palin could be that passionate conservative if she got in the hunt early. This stuff takes a lot of strategery. Palin, needless to say, has helped recruit a fairly decent stable of pubbie winners and looks to do the same thing in the next election cycle.
