NASA administrator Charles Bolden has dismissed the idea that the space agency will attempt another manned Moon mission. Speaking with contemporaries, Bolden said "NASA will not take the lead on a human lunar mission... probably in my lifetime." Bolden added that if the next administration reverses NASA's decision it would set back the manned space program in its entirety. He warned that, should we divert resources towards a manned moon mission in the future, we would probably never "see Americans on the Moon, on Mars, near an asteroid, or anywhere" in our lifetimes, explaining that "we cannot continue to change the course of human exploration."

Cost too much.
If we didn’t have to spend so much money on Detroit, Birmingham and the rest of “Holders people” we would have already gone to Mars.
He who commands space commands the future. What if Red China makes a manned moon mission, like they intend to do?
Of course they do! NASA is now in the rear of other countries in space exploration, I guess it would interfere with their new mission of making muslims feel good. After all they have to put their money were it best fit their mission statement!
NASA is too busy with Muslim outreach and climate scaremongering to do any actual exploration.
I imagine trying to teach the muzzies to like themselves is a lot tougher job than than Barry thought it was going to be. Barry should have given that job to the SEALs. They know how to turn mean Islamoterrorists into good Islamoterrorists.
Only a graduate of the Karl Marx University with a major in Doublespeak could say something that convoluted and illogical.
The beatings and the Muslim outreach will continue until morale improves.
Can’t fund NASA manned space exploration. Too many hungry mouths to feed on Earth. As long as we maintain this attitude, we’ll be stuck on this rock when the comet comes.
Huge strategic mistake. I’d expect nothing less from this administration.

He didn’t say that. April Fool’s Day was a week ago.
The problems of the world cannot possibly be solved by skeptics or cynics whose horizons are limited by the obvious realities. We need men who can dream of things that never were.
— John F. Kennedy
muslims feel bad when a kafir steps on their god.
A sad day for the USA to leave space travel. Heck even the Russians are still in space and they are in deeper Doo Doo that we are. They are making space pay! They won, not by skill but persistence.
I see that you had the same trouble making any kind of logical connection between the premise and conclusion in just about every sentence spoken by Bolden.
I just love these satire pieces, even though this one isn’t even funny.
“Bolden Going Where No-one Will Go Anymore....”
Tombstone on boot hill:
Here lies Les More,
Four slugs from a .44
No Les, no more!
Les died because somebody bigger and faster drew down on him
So someday someone may write:
Here lies NASA manned moon history.
China got to the moon and now its no mystery,
The US space program is now history and like Les
The USA is no More...
The Space Race (to the moon) is over.
Yep. Essentially, he claims that manned exploration will endanger the manned exploration program. The Obama administration is truly living in Opposite World.
It’s on again, and you don’t want the USA to compete?
Ever heard the admonition against resting on one’s laurels . . . ? It’s not the same spirit that the USA had when going to the moon.
That’s OK. The Reds in China have experience letting starving mouths starve to death, and they will send men to the moon on the bones and blood of the starved.
Yes, the future belongs to the thugs and bullies of the world.
Well my collection of moon walker autographs will certainly go up in value. I NEVER thought on that day in 1969 that I would live to see the first and last Americans on the moon.
Maybe when the Chinese set up their permanent moon base this country will finally get a clue.
NO we would have won if we had stayed and built a permanent presence on the Moon. You won’t feel that way when the Chinese have their base on the Moon.
Obama made that decision when he entered office, and enforced it when he ordered Bolton to lay off the entire Lunar workforce on June 19, 2010. After all, it was known as “Bush’s go to the moon program (on the way to Mars)”.
Clearly, they are too busy helping muslims apporeciate their contributions to the world. Aside from religious tyranny and committing murder in the name of Islam, I haven't seen any of their "contributions". Obviously, NASA is digging deep to find any, as well.
hussein say no more touch Moon for allah.
We can’t afford to send humans to the moon.
Anything that can be done by humans in space could be done by automated systems.
Can’t go to the moon, need the money to buy I-Phones for crack whores squirting out babies
We need to cut spending.
No expensive bus stops, no welfare, no man to the moon.
That's the next big project.
This could be done by private entrepreneurs. SpaceX will be lowering the cost of launches significantly when they get reusable stages. Bigelow has already designed space station modules cheaper than the ISS which can be used on the moon. Get Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin involved for some hardware, and the three could start out a lunar base.
Thanks redreno. Zero and his Muzzie Outreach Administration sucks.
the locked, later topic:
Watching The Right Stuff is painful. We used to have something special in this nation.
I guess NASA’s new trailer, “We Are the Explorers,” is just a melodramatic flight of fantasy.
Let commercial space take us to the stars.
The Space Race (to the moon) is over.
Men are no longer needed in space, and robots can do 10 times as much for one tenth the price. Consider 500 robotic missions to Mars over 25 years, each building on the knowledge and technology from those that preceded it. Compared to efforts to send a couple men to Mars, which might happen in 25 years, learn virtually nothing, possibly fail tragically, and cost 10x as much.
Human beings in space makes a gripping story. It’s about marketing.
I'm not saying "send them to the moon and bring them back."
I don’t mind waiting, because the cost of constructing the Mosque in Lacus Mortis would be prohibitive, and it is hard to bow facing Mecca when it is up.
