Botched ATF sting in Milwaukee ensnares brain-damaged man

“With him being slow, they knew that and they used him. He was too slow to catch on to what was going on. He was saying, ‘These are my good friends. These are my guys. They are looking out for me.’”- Willie Campbell, Chauncey Wright’s grandmother.

ATF agents running an undercover storefront in Milwaukee used a brain-damaged man with a low IQ to set up gun and drug deals, paying him in cigarettes, merchandise and money, according to federal documents obtained by the Journal Sentinel.

For more than six months, federal agents relied on Chauncey Wright to promote "Fearless Distributing" by handing out fliers as he rode his bike around town recommending the store to friends, family and strangers, according to federal prosecutors and family members.

Wright, unaware that the store was an undercover operation being run by agents with the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, also stocked shelves with shoes, clothing, drug paraphernalia and auto parts, according to his family.

Once authorities shut down the operation, they charged the 28-year-old man with federal gun and drug counts.

"I have never heard of anything so ludicrous in my life," said Greg Thiele, who spent 30 years working for the Milwaukee Police Department including on undercover stings with federal agents, including those with the ATF. "Something is very wrong here."

Wright's IQ measures in the 50s, about half of a normal IQ, according to those familiar with him. Wright's score is classified as mildly or moderately disabled, depending on the IQ scale used.

Food for thought... Along the same lines , the ATF maybe the one rouge agency that Obama doesn’t trust.

The ATF is the inbred, snaggle-toothed hillbilly of federal agencies.

Along with the M-4 .223-caliber fully automatic rifle

I find it difficult to believe anything is written by the press these days. I will parse the sentence above. The only part of the sentence that is correct is, "Along with the".

"M-4" should be "M4" (no hyphen), or "M4 Carbine". If it a M4, as in true a military model, then ".223-caliber" should be "5.56x45mm", even though it is capable of firing .223 ammo.

Lastly, a M4 is semi-automatic/select-fire weapon. A M4A1 can be fired fully automatic, but there is no way of knowing it is a M4A1, since it was written as M-4.

Rewriting the partial sentence accurately, given the what I think is the author's intent, would be simply, "Along with the M4A1 Carbine." Nothing more is needed.

I find it utterly amazing how ignorant and lazy the press is. The press can't even write a partial sentence that is accurate. Just like politicians, the press is too lazy to educate themselves and be accurate.

Why the big deal, well I just have a problem with lies, like when Obama lied about the weapon used at Sandy Hook the other day while campaigning. He incorrectly, corrected himself, calling the weapon fully automatic. It wasn't a mistake. He lies. The media lies.

These are the people that are trying to sway public opinion to take away our rights, and they have to lie to do so.

One day they may learn the true meaning of accuracy and gun control.

No flamin’ from me - they took advantage of a mentally retarded citizen and then decided to throw him out with the trash. If he had been a girl and a bunch of folks decided to make her the “life of the party”, there would be charges of rape and abuse.

Replace ATF with Stasi or KGB or SS and it would read the same.

Sounds like they set up a sting in an honest town and had to get someone to pin something on. So they picked the retarded guy.

Sheesh. Holders Justice department is a total joke.

ATF - Assassins, Thugs and Felons. Does this fit the description of this supposed federal agency? Gee, just when we thought America was safe - the American President and his thugs are the greatest threat to America has become SOP.

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett (D) was involved?
