Suicide is the antithesis of the Purpose Driven Life.

Suicide is the ultimate act of selfisheness, all about “me”.

I have to disagree. Not in all cases because humans are very different. Some struggle with depression and mental illness for years. They just cannot cope. My hubby and I use to help and volunteer to help run away young teens. It can be very complex at times. Nothing will reach some. I think it's a wrong decision to do but some people you cannot reach before it's too late. Though, some cases will choose this for attention making it spiral to a situation they cannot/will not control. I always wonder why they don't love themselves since we all are special temple of God though I realize we are all different. Sad way to end one's life by their own hand.

No you should not blame selfishness — some people are deathly afraid of the future and what it will bring.

What about those going on dangerous missions during WWII carrying a cyanide pill? I don’t think that they were selfish people.

I used to have the same outlook that you do....until a client killed himself. This man was enormously successful - the university had buildings named after him, he was wealthy, and his obituary took an entire column of the paper to list all his awards, organizations, charities, etc. Yet he killed himself....because of depression. He was self aware that his depression made him suicidal, and feared it. He didn’t want to kill himself...but he did.

Now I look at these cases very differently.

You are, unfortunately, utterly, utterly clueless.

I don't think it's fair to call all suicides selfish acts. You have no idea what some people who commit suicide have suffered mentally or physically. Most have sought treatment to no avail. Knee-jerk reaction suicides are usually the wrong decision, but as for people who have suffered for years, please don't judge them.
