No. The French of today are largely sheep. You can’t site something from 200 years ago as proof of a people’s guts today.

Just one problem - there’s no contemporary proof that was ever said. The population of Beziers (please note correct spelling - although I have no accent mark) would have been wiped out by ANY European army in 1209 since that was standard practice for city populations which resisted seiges. Also, if you have to go back to 1209 to find French guts then you have no case at all.

Yeah, actually they are. Don’t forget the most respected French soldiers of today aren’t even French. That tells you something right there.
