CAIR Claims Victory Over AP Stylebook’s Restrictions on Word 'Islamist' April 5, 2013 By Elizabeth Harrington
(CNSNews.com) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) praised the Associated Press (AP) for revising its stylebook to forbid the use of the word “Islamist,” if it is used to describe Islamic militants or extremists.
In a press release on Friday, CAIR said revising the term is a "step in the right direction,” and that they helped influence the AP’s decision.
“Late last year, the Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) approached AP about modifying the reference, which had been added to its influential Stylebook,” the release said.
“That entry read: ‘Islamist -- Supporter of government in accord with the laws of Islam. Those who view the Quran as a political model encompass a wide range of Muslims, from mainstream politicians to militants known as jihadi.’”
“CAIR suggested that AP change its Stylebook to incorporate language similar to that used in the reference to ‘fundamentalist,’ which states that the label should not be used unless a group applies the term to itself,” they said.
CAIR also encouraged the media to drop the term. "Unfortunately, the term 'Islamist' has become shorthand for 'Muslims we don't like,'” said CAIR. “It is currently used in an almost exclusively pejorative context and is often coupled with the term 'extremist,' giving it an even more negative slant."

As proof of how effective it is, do you remember when the word “Militia” conjured images of patriotism, honor, and duty?
These days the word is used if they want to label someone a violent dangerous extremist.

Victor Klemperer was the cousin of Werner Klemperer who played Col. Wilhelm Klink on Hogan’s Heroes.
I know Goebbels was using Edward Bernay’s “Crystallizing public opinion” for much of his propaganda.
Bernays is kind of a sad case. He was a progressive Jew who worked for everyone from Woodrow Wilson to the great Calvin Coolidge. In fact, Bernays can be credited with us eating bacon today since he was hired pork producers to run a PR campaign to sell what was seen as scrap at the time.
Bernays said he was shocked to find that Goebbels was using his book to promote the extermination of Jews. I tend to believe him but he does show a sad fact about progressives and their unwillingness to accept failure.
AP needs to rename their Style Book - call it ‘In Style’ or ‘In Fashion”, or ‘Blow With the Winds” or just plain ‘We’re Shallow and Proud of It’ Book...
Or ‘we stand with whatever group is ‘in’ book...
“I will bear witness” (2 books) are Klemperer’s personal diaries about the rise of the nazis. Klemperer actually managed to survive the nazis as a “free” Jew by being married to an “Aryan woman” and effectively staying out of sight as other Jews were being led to death camps.
So, if the AP stylebook says they can no longer call Islamic militants or extremists Islamists, what does the new AP stylebook say the new word is for Islamic militants or extremists?
After all, if they removed the word for them, surely there is a new word. Or is AP saying there are NO Islamic militants or extremists anymore?
On the other hand, if AP is saying that they are going to call Islamic militants or extremists Islamic militants or extremists, then those expressions are STILL calling those people Islamic.
As if still calling them Islamic will satisfy CAIR.

Cry all you want you Islamic Supremacists but you refuse to condemn Islamic terrorism. There ARE muslims who proudly wear t-shirts with Osama Bin Laden's fancy printed picture on them. There ARE jihadists in America who've gunned down unarmed men, women, and children.
Also recall that as horrible as OBL's murderous activities were, he still was given an ISLAMIC funeral so as not to piss off the Islamists. Say he wasn't really a muslim all you want but clearly to radicals HE WAS.
I may not like ALL muslims but that doesn't mean that I hate ALL muslims either. The Islamic supremacists at CAIR DO NOT HATE ANY MUSLIMS NO MATTER HOW HORRIFIC THEIR ACTIONS.
