Liberals never, ever bring up the fact that among black children raised by married parents, the poverty rate is only 7%. Perhaps liberals would rather promote their failed welfare programs, instead of proposing a real solution that actually solves the problem of poverty?

If you really wanted to turbo-up these two stat’s...just split it off from rural communities and urban communities. I think the numbers would shock Americans. If you are young, black, and single...with a kid...in a major American urban area...your kid has almost no possibility of ever getting ahead in life. We are simply fooling ourselves if we believe otherwise.

Exactly. This is why the state should protect DOMA and reject queer marriages and all other forms of breaking down traditional marriages. As goes the American family - so goes America.

This whole study is obviously racist. Whites must do more to increase their level of illegitimacy. White people, while making strides in this area, must pick up the pace even more so things are all equal. /s
Obviously they are, by and large, more self-disciplined. But there is also clearly a civilizing effect on men who get married. It expands their time horizon and increases the tendency to defer gratification.

Agree. Though that civilizing effect is to a considerable extent dependent on the prestige society assigns marriage as a valued institution.

Look, this is all very simple. There are similar statistics about the effects on life prospects of children brought up with a father as compared to without.
Problem is, the mere presence of a thug criminal baby daddy is not a help. It’s just that the type of man who stays around and helps raise his kids is seldom a thug criminal.
