White House press secretary Jay Carney said Friday that the administration wouldn't be surprised if North Korea followed through on threats to launch a missle.
"We've obviously seen the reports that North Korea may be making preparations to launch a missile. We're monitoring this situation cclosely, and we would not be surprised to see them take such an action," Carney said during a press briefing.
"We have seen them launch missiles in the past and the United Nations Security Council has repeatedly condemned them as violations of the North’s obligations under numerous Security Council resolutions, and it would fit their current pattern of bellicose, unhelpful and unconstructive rhetoric and actions."
North Korea reportedly has moved missile and launch equipment to its east coast, and the regime asked foreign governments Friday to pull their ambassadors from the country, saying it could not guarantee their safety as of April 10, Reuters reports. The North Korean government signaled war is inevitable because of the "increasing threat from the United States" and cited the joint military exercises the United States is conducting with South Korea, according to the Reuters report.

Everyone knows the real target is South Korea, this is just a test of Obama and America. Even the Norks know they don’t have a snowballs chance in hell against America. Against South Korea and a limited US response, because of the weak President, they might just be fancying their chances. Nobody thinks for a minute it would have gone this far under Bush, or even Clinton. (Bill that is!)
Benghazi-gate. Wasn’t it last week or before it resurfaced with a “report” suggesting a large number of possible witnesses? CIA?

Americans have a right to expect the phrase "wouldn't be surprised" means we have equipped our ally, South Korea, with the means to destroy any armed missle while it is yet over NK.
Given the state of technical capabilities, any action that does not destroy such a threat while yet in NK airspace is a profound and alarming failure.

it has occurred to me that ill has put himself in a missile destruction box. It is a screwup or on purpose?
He had gone on a tirade threatening to bomb the US with missiles. The US and possibly Japan have gone on alert and activated counter measures to destroy any missle coming out of North Korea.
What that means is there are no practice shots. any shot is now taken to be a real shot, even if they claim practice. That means they are no longer able to practice.
The question is ,is this dumb or smart? It could be a face saving way to disarm, end nuclear missile threat for good. “If I shoot them they get shot down, so why go to the expense. Why shoot them at all.?
