SEOUL — The North Korean army said Thursday it had final approval to launch "merciless" military strikes on the United States, involving the possible use of "cutting-edge" nuclear weapons.

In a statement published by the official KCNA news agency, the General Staff of the Korean People's Army (KPA) said it was formally informing Washington that reckless US threats would be "smashed by... cutting-edge smaller, lighter and diversified nuclear strike means".

"The merciless operation of (our) revolutionary armed forces in this regard has been finally examined and ratified," the statement said.

These bastards are as looney as a wounded partridge. I wouldnt put it past them to try anything. And dont believe they havent got nukes. They do. Even a one kiloton is big enough to do lots of damage.

I'm not laughing about this.

30 years ago the USA and USSR produced tactical nuclear weapons in the 1 kiloton range that weighed less than 200 pounds.

I'm not willing to bet my life that Crazy Kim and the Norks are too stupid to build one today.

Hook one of those things on drone, launch from a fishing trawler, and you could knock down half the buildings in downtown Seattle, which happens to be my home.

When crazy people start threatening to kill you, I suggest paying attention.

Unfortunately it looks like the US and S. Korea are going to have to show new boy Kim where the line is....he’s in the “I dare you” mode. You know..kids do that...and he’s a kid without any experience on the world stage...and his “parents” are letting him try his wings.

They’ve already got a satellite in low-earth-orit; who knows what’s inside it? EMP?

This bellicosity is a ploy to blackmail the international community to back off from economic sanctions against North Korea. It is also a gambit to get China to refrain from criticizing North Korea’s resumption of the production of weapons grade plutonium in the restart of its nuclear reeactor/s.

By the way, this kid's grandfather, Kim Il-Sung, talked exactly like this in 1950.

A couple months later he pushed the entire South Korean army onto about 400 square miles in the southeastern tip of Korea.

As I recall, it took 36,500 dead Americans to push him back across the 38th parallel.

A more serious and seasoned state department would understand that and help him to it, to make the situation diffuse.

However, with the world economies melting down, more debts than money, etc. I am not so sure the int'l bankers are not looking for a big, ugly world war.

“This has to be the longest running UN failure”.
It has been a failure almost as long as the UN has been in existence. The area has to be their business model cause they sure don’t have any successes in these 65 or so years.

“Fatty Kim”, that’s what the Chineese call him, may have tested an EMP weapon in Feb. Those are low yield like his test was, because the energy is expended in the EMP wave.
A high altitude detonation will render virtually all advanced military equipment unoperable, all but his mechanical ladden WWII equipment. Many believe that placing a warhead on a rocket is difficult, miniturizing and what not, but these type weapons are small to begin with. I don’t think “Fatty Kim” urinates until China say’s “Simon Say’s”. And I don’t believe China would be threatened by the prospect of a Billion boarder crossing NorK’s for a second, unless they were pulling the strings.

I’m not saying it’s time to panic, but if they are allowed to launch another medium to long range missile without at least an attempt to down it with ABM then Hussein is just wishing for us to die.

These threats are not something to dismiss lightly. The Russians and Chinese are not behaving as though this little bastard is just shooting off his mouth as usual. They KNOW there is more behind this.

Further, they KNOW we have a pot-smoking, eltist, pseudo-intellectual ass running our government and their assessment of us has substantially dropped.

A VERY dangerous thing.

Their current satellite isn’t large enough for a nuke to cause an EMP.

Aim for the west coast. Lots of people, and saves on fuel costs.
Is that supposed to be funny? I see no humor in this situation at all - and yes, I live on the west coast.

Are you nuts? It would take out the FR servers, then we'll be stuck without FR.
