Gov. Malloy to sign Connecticut gun control law once passed, gun manufacturers consider leaving

HARTFORD — Gov. Dannel P. Malloy will quickly sign the sweeping gun control law that is expected to be adopted Wednesday, while a firearm lobbyist predicted it will be challenged in court and gun manufacturers continue to weigh their options to move away.

The owner of Stag Arms, Mark Malkowski, said he has had numerous, lucrative offers to relocate to gun-friendly states that he is more seriously considering, particularly if his brand is hurt by passage of the law.

The same analysis was repeated by Jonathan Scalise, president and owner of Ammunition Storage Components.

Both sides on the gun debate are expected to be back at the Capitol for the vote, to again make themselves visible with the National Shooting Sports Foundation arranging bus shuttles from Cabela’s in East Hartford and advising them to tell their legislators how they will vote when they are up for re-election.

“This is a good moment,” Malloy said of the sweeping gun control legislation that bans at least an additional 100 assault weapons, mandates universal background checks, bans magazines with more than 10 rounds and restricts use of currently owned larger magazines.

It requires eligibility certificates for long guns, raises the purchase age for centerfold rifles from 18 to 21 and puts in place the first statewide dangerous offender list, among other things.

The governor, who had been critical of the amount of time it was taking lawmakers to adopt new rules and argued forcefully for a ban on possession of large magazines - which he failed to get - had nothing but praise Tuesday for the leaders who put the deal together.

“It’s something to be proud of,” Malloy said. He called it “far reaching (and) arguably the most comprehensive in the country.”

Leave Connecticut. Go to New Hampshire and take the state back from the New York/Massachusetts red hordes.

Bill Loeb would approve.

I believe that it won’t be long before there are very few states, mostly in the South and the West, which protect the citizens’ 2A rights. After a while, probably less time than we think, those few states will be isolated pariah states, and the federal government in cooperation with all the other states which have fallen into line, will put immense pressure theough every means possivle to coerce the pariah states to cave.

...raises the purchase age for centerfold rifles from 18 to 21

We all love good gun porn.
Freudian slip?

Could be a freudian slip..... more likely however the writer of the article, Mary E. O'Reilly (gotta get the "E" in there) is dumber than a box of rocks, knows nothing about guns, firearms or ammo, and wanted to impress her equally stupid editor & co-workers.

Hey Mary E.... how 'bout you put a lid on your stupidity? It's CENTERFIRE you liberal moron!

I have been thinking of this recently also, there is a blue/red divide that is becoming very pronounced now. It is more like a rural/urban divide. We are approaching the time where this divide will not be bridged.

This gun legislation will not stop criminals from murder. All it will do is polish the politician’s “Do Something About It” button at the expense of the law abiding citizen.

Yup, just look at Vermont. They’d love to cast their vote for Karl Marx, as long as he promised not to take away their guns.

Malloy 567,278

Foley 560,874

Malloy won the Storrs(UConn), Hartford, New Haven, Groton and Bridgeport areas. I.e most of the urban areas.

I was just about to put an offer on a house in the Danbury area, but not going to do it. CT has also contracted with a private company to move severely ill prisoners — who are being paroled or released from prison for medical or compassionate reasons — into a former nursing home that sits right in the middle of a residential neighborhood. But the people should not worry about protecting themselves or their children... I don’t know why anyone would want to live in CT anymore!

“Yup! That Nazis and Communists win. Slavery is no longer just a dream to the DemocRATS. It’s reality. “

I don’t blame individual Democrats for this at all. Many are pro gun. I blame the organized Marxist Commie sympathizers and their media cohorts who head and own the Dem Party. They have had this on their bucket list for years just waiting for such a tragedy they can capitalize and use.

The vote? The one they are taking without the report from the state attorney’s office?

What report? We don’t need no stinkin’ report.

Hey Ray!

Starting Thursday morning, there will be no gun crimes in the state. Right? Now we can sleep easy. Phew! I feel all warm and fuzzy and safe already.

I’m going to have a new hobby...every gun crime that is reported in the HC, I’m going to email the URL to every state rep, and ask them *why* it wasn’t prevented, based on their *promise* to reduce violent crime.

In the end this will become more about economics than politics just as the Eastern Sports Show promoter from UK and CT found out in PA, when they had to cancel the largest gun show in America due to their ban of modern sporting rifles. The Ivy League urbanites have come to believe they have a God given right to run the USA as only they see fit. They found out they were wrong.
