A DirecTV installer who authorities say is a recently deported illegal alien felon was arrested Thursday, March 28, after surveillance video showed a man stealing the customer’s $2,500 English bulldog puppy from the backyard.

Eduardo Robles, 38, of San Bernardino, was in custody Friday and is scheduled to be arraigned April 2 on a charge of grand theft, according to a news release from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and online jail records.

Stealing a dog valued at more than $950 is considered grand theft, according to the state Penal Code.

Robles was an employee of a subcontractor that installs satellite television systems for DirecTV when on March 8 he installed a system in Victorville, a news release said. Later that day, a surveillance camera captured a man returning to the customer’s residence and using a ladder to dismantle a latch on the backyard gate.

The footage showed a man enter the yard and then leave with the puppy in his arms. Detectives arrested Robles on Glassgow Street in San Bernardino. The dog was found at a nearby house.

Robles was booked at Victor Valley Jail on a felony charge of grand theft of a dog. His bail Friday evening was listed at $175,000.

But further investigation showed Robles is an illegal alien and a recently deported felon

Detectives learned that Robles has been using the name Wence Benitez Gonzalez, and that he was in possession of false identification bearing that name, the release said.

I hate illegals. I really do. The damage they have done to this country is incalculable. But I hate their American enablers more.

And, no, hate is not too strong a word.

That’s why I switched to Dish and then had to switch back to DirecTV because Dish was so terrible.

No FReeper can send money to Dish anyway when you see Charlie Ergen’s politics.

Why should they stop hiring Illegal Aliens, when there is one sitting out in the open at 1600 Penn Ave DC?

They keep trying to sell me Direct TV in my local wallyworld. I think next time I’ll tell them I’ll buy if they will send out their Genie to install it....

That’s why I switched to Dish and then had to switch back to DirecTV because Dish was so terrible.

I've yet to hear anyone say a good word about Dish, or DirecTV. Or Comcast. Or Time-Warner. Or Cox Cable.

Or, for that matter, about AT&T wireless, Verizon, or any other cellular data company. The fact that all of these companies are built on a business model which insists on the bundling of unwanted features and forcing consumers to pay for them isn't a coincidence. Neither is the fact that the customer has no realistic alternative to this business model, because the handful of companies in these spaces all practice it.

This is what crony capitalism, the brother-in-law of socialism - gets us: local monopolies or oligopolies who have bought enough government influence to legally rip us off for substandard services and keep potential competitors behind hurdles too big to be crossed.

The DirecTV techs won’t even come inside to work on the living room receiver.

They stand outside the window and tell me what to do.

They’re terrified of the Dobes.

Probably not gonna be stealing them.

I thought I was the only person on earth who felt that way! I hate having workmen in the house, thanks, I'll do it myself (if at all possible).

I'm turning 65 in a couple of months and I couldn't tell you the number of cold calls I've received from insurance and financial companies (and call centers in India) wanting to send someone to the house and "explain my health care options". I was amazed because "the elderly" are suppose to be such a drain on the health care system, until my husband pointed out that they want the premiums, no guarantee of pay out.

Isn't it maddening? Especially when they call you by your first name as if they are a long lost friend.

Even when I admonish them that doing so is rude, disrespectful and despicable, they are so dense as to wonder why I am so upset.

Then most of them block their Caller ID or disguise it as something else and I ask them, "Why would I want to do business with a deceitful company that is ashamed to show its true identity?"

I am a Dish subscriber and couldn’t be happier. I don’t know of Charlie Ergen’s politics, but they were the only carrier that had “The Blaze” and as a result I’ve been able to ignore FoxNews since the election. I am enjoying not having to be exposed to BO, BB, etc.
