As Republican leaders openly scrutinize their party after a 2012 election that was disappointing for them, rank-and-file Republicans, independents, and Democrats voice the same primary criticism of the GOP: it is "too inflexible" or "unwilling to compromise." So true.

Now if the Republicans proposed eliminating entire cabinet departments, and reducing the federal budget by 50%, then maybe I’d be interested in compromising.

So when is the last time you heard anyone even meekly suggest that the democrats might possibly consider moderating themselves in some small way?

Can't anyone speak plain English any more without the freaking code words and phrases?

As a conservative lifelong registered Democrat, my main complaint, aside from ignorance, doubletalk and duplicity, is
that the democratic leaders are just as much, if not more so, UNwilling to compromise as the GOP.

A simple explanation might be that it is too difficult to understand the definition of compromise?

Side A = wants a 750 billion$ cut.
Side B = wants a 30 Billion$ cut to a 500 billion$ increase.

Where is the compromise?

A huge number of us out here just cannot wait to stay home and simply not vote at all next election.

Oh sure. THAT will solve the problem.
If "republicans" are so stupid as to believe that will solve the crisis, then we all deserve to have the progressive totalitarians in charge of everything!

It will definitely happen if the leadership stands by like a bunch of insurance adjusters and persists in ‘making nice’ with the Left.
