Caroline Kennedy, the daughter of former President John F. Kennedy, is close to being announced as the next United States ambassador to Japan, according to people familiar with the appointment process.

The vetting of Ms. Kennedy by the White House is almost complete, and an appointment could be announced in the coming weeks, along with the names of several other choices for high-profile diplomatic posts. Bloomberg News and The Washington Post first reported that Ms. Kennedy was under consideration.

Ms. Kennedy was an early supporter of President Obama, offering forceful backing as he battled Hillary Rodham Clinton for the Democratic nomination in the 2008 presidential election. She also served as a co-chairwoman of Mr. Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign.

Utterly inapproprate to send a princess to a culture that respects age. Mike Mansfield was a much better choice — the longest-serving Senate majority leader, ambassador under Carter and Reagan.

Maybe you are better acquainted with Shirley Temple’s educational and professional background which qualified her to be US Ambassador to Ghana.

The Kennedy girl is likely not qualified for the rigors and geopolitical brinkmanship needed to be US Ambassador to Japan.

He appointments were based on years and years of work within the GOP—but she was appointed to Ghana, not one of our largest trading partners.

This is just an example of what a buffoon this jerk is.

She was also ambassador to Czechoslovakia in 1989-1990, just as the Iron Curtain was collapsing:

By all accounts, Shirley Temple was an effective ambassador in both Accra and Prague. She was in Czechoslovakia as the Iron Curtain was crumbling. A buddy of mine was in Prague on TDY, when it fell. he took advantage of the chaos and bought an AK-47 from a Czech solidier who was looking to score some US dollars. So he bought the weapon and attempted to smuggle it back to the world in a diplomatic pouch. Ambassador Black got wind of this so she stopped the deal, gave the rifle to the Marine Detachment for safekeeping and my buddy was PNGd and was sent packing sans AK-47.

Is she going to follow Grampa’s footsteps and try to corner the Saki market in the US?
Will she deal with North Korea to do it?

If she gets into any trouble, she knows how to send a message in a coconut -- so at least there's that.

When the radio announced this they said Japan expects high-profile, star US ambassadors ... like ... Walter Mondale.

Er, ... okay.

Now why does anyone want to murder Caroline Kennedy?

Seriously, why?

If you don’t get it, think about it. It’s a thinker.

On the outside bottom of the barrel, where the slugs and crud have congregated: hardcore liberal-marxist-socialist-demoncraps and their allies. He’s already turned-over the barrel and is picking the scum and filth.

The next best thing to AGE that Japan wants in a US Ambassador is "name value".

Every person down to elementary kids in Japan--much like across much of Latin America--know "Kenedei" and it will go down very well.

At least the Japanese mainstream media will make sure that it is entirely palatable to the diplomatic corps here, the Japanese Goverment, the Imperial Household and the man in the street. This is separate from anything about CK being a good Ambasssador or not, but it will be seen as entirely welcome and they will be flattered. They are too far removed from the realities of American Political System and the Kennedy "name" (brand) still holds a great sway here. So WE may not like it, but by and large she will be accepted as a rock star and they will be flattered. And their news media will tell them to think this way.
