Newtown families at Capitol pushing for gun control measures

As lawmakers prepare to vote on gun control, Newtown families are making a last ditch effort to prevent another mass shooting.

During a news conference Monday, the families of Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victims were at the State Capitol where they said they want to see a ban on large ammunition magazines.

They said not only on future sales of large ammunition magazines, but those already in existence.

Eyewitness News has learned that an agreement was reached over the weekend between the two political parties.

And on Monday, the leadership of both parties briefed their caucuses.

On Dec. 14, Adam Lanza, 20, shot and killed his mother while she slept in her bed before going to Sandy Hook Elementary School, where he killed 20 children and six adults. He then killed himself as police entered the school.

While discussions occur among lawmakers, the Newtown families continued to hope to influence the political leaders.

Lawmakers are currently discussing banning large ammunition magazines from 30 rounds to 10.

Newtown families told Eyewitness News they are supportive, but feel a ban should go even further.

And that large magazines should all be illegal and should not be grandfathered.

Nicole Hockley said she believes her 6-year-old son, Dylan, and maybe another child could have escaped if the gunman Lanza had to stop and reload more often.

Maybe they could dig up the graves and display the bodies?

I’m surprised Mark Kelly isn’t there. He’d glue a news camera to his face if someone would let him.

My 8 year old niece lives in Newtown. She wishes these people would ALL shut up so they can get back to normal.

Smart kid for 8, I tell ya.

I am desperately sorry their children were murdered by a mindless scumbag lower than dirt creep, but what makes them think that taking away guns from law abiding citizens is going to stop these killings. Changing the laws won’t help either. We already have laws that criminals don’t follow!

Their town was a gun free zone so how did THAT help them. If they want gun control let their state change their laws and the rest will abide by the constitution.

“Nicole Hockley said she believes her 6-year-old son, Dylan, and maybe another child could have escaped if the gunman Lanza had to stop and reload more often”

Belief and actuality are two different things....a magazine can be changed in seconds....

Newtown families are making a last ditch effort to prevent another mass shooting.

Good luck with that. There WILL be another. Even if the current Regime needs to manufacture one. Bet on it.

This is all a setup. This whole event was a sham false flag using a drugged up kid with known mental problems.

These people are not gun experts. MAybe this and maybe that. Maybe if there weren’t several other shooters tagging kids in black camo, while the drugged kid is using handguns and the shooters are using rifles (ie different ammo than what the kids were shot with according to the coroner) ...

Let’s just do all this stuff to people who havent done anything because if this guy who already killed couldn’t have gotten these magazines maybe he could have shot less kids.

Is this the rationale that passes for destroying the Second Amendment rights of entire country?

Cops have high rates of domestic abuse. And alcohol abuse. We’re going to have to inlcude them all in this because if it takes a drunk angry cop more time to reload that’s less times he can shoot his spouse and kids.

Military will have to follow for the same exact reasons. Plus now that gays are openly serving they as a group have higher domestic abuse and substance abuse problems than normal people. Have to really make sure gay folks can’t get this. Maybe this could have stopped the hate crime gay shooter at the Heritage Foundation (or wherever, you know what I mean) who shot the security guard there if he had a single shot gun he’d have had to reload right away.

Idiots. They are all idiots. They have no credibility to speak on this at all. Being victims does not confer credibilty on a subject. When people are in a car accident, they don’t become experts on preventing car acidents or design engineers. When people get cancer, they are not transformed into cancer doctors, or automatic experts on curing cancer. When someone in your family drowns, you do not just become an expert on lifeguarding techniques. They are not credible, expert authorities on the Second Amendment or firearms, or firearms law, just because people they know died from a crazed gunman.

This is pigsh1t journalism and pigsh1t politics. Anywhere you look.

It sounds like the “Newtown families” are trying to stretch their 15 minutes.

Yet, not one of these camera seekers are able and/or willing to connect those killings to the emerging evidence that Lanza was very likely a heavy consumer of psychotropic drugs. But they choose not to wrap their minds around that... attacking the 2nd Amendment garners more love from the “media.”

It is bullshyte like this which increases the certaqinty that the current 'gun control' push is an agenda item of the globalist who want Americans disarmed and the We The People Republic aborted:

"... Newtown families are making a last ditch effort to prevent another mass shooting." When the collapse arrives, I know what I'm going hunting for ...

Newtown engaged in the massacre of the Pequots nearly four centuries ago. I”d move. Two massacres in recorded history is a clue.

Excellent summation.

Robbie Parker "grieves" on...

When will the Sandy Hook "survivors" get to sing and tap dance their happy @sses off with Carly Rae Jepsen?

I know that their original plan was pulled due to snow, but come on. How many times do people get to tap dance to "Call Me Maybe" after their buddies get "shot" by a "bad kid?" Can't be too ridiculous opportunities left to exploit this "shooting."

$hit happened in Newtown. I am sorry for their loss BUT I and millions of law abiding gun owners in the United States had nothing to do with it .Stay out of our faces.Banning weapons or Hi Cap magazines will do NOTHING to stop an act like this happening again. The idiot who committed this crime was NUTS!The legislators who are trying to pass more firearms laws are also nuts! They should also be tried for treason for trying to stomp on our Constitutional rights.
I am sure the Brown Clown’s minions(aka gang bangers) will obey any new laws governing weapons.
Remember, the deaths in Oklahoma(McVey) were not caused by firearms and as far as I know it is not illegal to own Hi Cap barrels of fuel oil.I have a 275 gal tank that gets filled regularly in the Winter months.

Where was the shooter from? Maybe they should focus on the capital of that community and not waste everyone else’s time.

Imagine if every family of a drunk driver victim marched on the capital to abolish cars. It would be a very busy day, every day.

I know it is a dumb, rhetorical question BUT whom do you think is financing transporting these families around the country to be used as photo ops for the pResident?

If the good people of Newtown are working, the bosses ‘understanding’ of one needing time to oneself will be coming to a quick end if ‘they’ spend all their time traveling.

Why do a handful of liberals in Connecticut think they have the right to tell 4,000,000 people in Oklahoma what kind of guns we can own? I know the answer is found in the questions. Because they’re liberals. The question is why on earth do we let them tell us what to do?
