What was the Earth's temperature yesterday? Nobody knows. In fact, it's a ridiculous question. Almost every place on Earth today has a different temperature from that of any other location. So, is our planet's temperature rising? Do we even know?
However, it is officially admitted: Global warming stopped 15-20 years ago. The mainstream media is struggling very hard to explain this away. They admit that the Earth stopped warming 15 to 20 years ago. But just you wait -- disaster is coming unless we vote liberals into office. They cannot explain the pause. Yet they "know" global warming will kill us all unless we vote Democrat.
So was global warming ever real? Or is this hysteria a hoax, like the Y2K computer disaster that never happened?
Just concerning today's temperature first, we would have to measure hundreds of thousands of locations and then average temperatures from all over the planet. We don't have that many weather stations. So we don't even know what yesterday's temperature for the planet was. We certainly don't know what the temperature was a hundred years ago or a thousand years ago.
Are today's weather measurements accurate? Heck no. Weather stations are measuring the jet blast from airplanes taking off at airports, the heat from air conditioners on office building rooftops, the heat of asphalt parking lots and streets and cities.

Watts became truly famous with his recurring "How Not to Measure Temperature" series reviewing the world's automated weather stations.

Anyone who has ever done a four-hour, 0130 preflight in January on the ramp aboard NAS BRUNSWICK knows all too well that “Global Warming” was nothing more than a cruel hoax perpetrated by the Air Force.
THAT is the single most important question in this whole $Trillion dollar fiasco.
There is a concept in science called SIGNIFICANT DIGITS. It basically explains why you cannot be more accurate than your measuring device.
If all you have is a yardstick, you cannot express measurment of distance in thousandths of an inch.
So... if all you have from past history is tree rings, you cannot say global warming has increased .5 degres. It is fundamentally impossible.
But that is the data they used to show the ‘hockey stick’ graph, which in itself was skewed to show a sharp turn, and then later shown to be based on FAKE DATA.
So... where do we go to get a refund on the $trillons of dollars wasted on this FRAUD?
And how do we stop Congress? They are STILL talking about the carbon tax.
I think the best test of our computer models is when they set them up to predict the past. They fail miserably. But that does prove one thing, our computer models will come up with the wrong answer.
I am sure that in the very near future all of the Liberal politicians will be doing their Judas denials regarding global warming.Who knows, AlGore may be leading the pack.

We do not want to spend billions and trillions “fixing” global warming.
So, when do the stupid lefties revert back to the “little ice age” message?
FWIW on any given sunny day, the temperature in my back yard is 5 degrees cooler than the temperature in my front yard.
I just read the Economist article. They are backpedaling big time.
It’s all the unknowns.
1. How sensitive is the climate to extra carbon?
2. What is the effect of aerosols, soot and sulfur?
3. Does more clouds mean more warming?
4. Is the deep ocean warming or cooling and if so, is that good or bad?
Basically they predict inaccurately because of the complexity. They admit to this. To change how we emit pollutants could be counterproductive, even if the change was free.
Yet this stuff is taught to our children as if it was religion.
Just as enviro-whackos forced fast food places to use trans fats instead of the evil beef tallow (then changed their minds) and forced the use of MTBE in gasoline (then changed their minds). These leftist tools will never be blamed for any of their disasters. They are destroying our way of life and making us sicker, poorer, and less safe with their crappy low flush toilets (pun intended), expensive appliances that don’t do the job, and cleaning products that don’t clean. The American people really are a bunch of mindless sheep if they continue to let these people make us all miserable.
My daughter has a new “efficient” dishwasher that takes 4 hours to run a cycle and still leaves the dishes wet. With 3 kids in the household, they have to run the thing twice a day some days. How is that efficient? If anybody knows how to obtain appliances that still work, please clue me in.

That is just plain ignorant. The reason Y2K did not happen is the number of man-hours IT deparments put in to see that it did not happen.
I am belaboring the obvious but its worth saying one more time. Global warming is a tool as is everything that the progressive left do. It was never about a real problem it was about using the hype and hysteria of the non problem to transform society. The same was done with abortion as is currently being done with same sex marriage. Everything is a tool to an end to increase the political and social power of the left. If you ever allow yourself to think naively that global warming is about a threat of rising temperature or that abortion is really a threat to women who would get them illegally or that same sex marriage is about people who love each other being denied rights that everyone else has then you have fallen into their trap because once you let them get past the false idea of the problem to the idea that a solution must be implemented to address their largely imaginary problems we have lost.

So much was spend on fixing the code — which often meant complete systems overhauls — that it started the inflation of the tech bubble. The Y2K problem may have been “hyped”; but, it was a real problem, and it had real fixes.
Another analogy would be putting lightning rods on the barn. The barn then never gets hit by lightning. Does that prove that the threat of lightning strikes was a “hoax”?
1. What is the ideal earth atmospheric temperature?
2. Are we getting closer or further from it?
Sigh. The y2K disaster didn't happen because a whole lot of people worked their butts off to ensure that it wouldn't.
Y2K was based on fact. "Lookit the code. Right there. Unless we make X, Y, and Z modifications, it's going to break on 01/01/2000, sure as the sun will come up that day." Global warming, or whatever they're calling it now, is based on flawed premises and popular conjecture.
Now, would Y2K have caused global thermonucler meltdowns, thus destroying the world and living up to its hype? Nah, at worst it might have done some serious snarling of financial transactions. Dammed inconvenient, but not the end of the world.
So, IMHO, the author is right, but has the wrong reasoning.
